concrete.

• Source of sand: Wainganga

• Color: - Reddish brown

[Link] AGGREGATE: - The coarse aggregate

used for preparation of concrete are basically
of 10,20 mm. The aggregate is washed with
water before using it for the preparation of
concrete so that they should not absorb water at the time of concrete
preparation.

2.2 Design Aids-IS Codes & Standards: -

We use design aids-is code to reduce design time.

• Cement (OPC 53 Grade): -IS 12269:2013

• Fine & coarse aggregate: - IS 383:2016
• Steel reinforcement (Fe 500/550 TMT Bars): -IS 1786:2008
• Concrete design & workmanship: -IS 456:2000
• Concrete mix design (M40 Grade): -IS 10262:2019
2.3 Testing of Materials: -
Materials testing helps us to understand quantify whether a specific material or
treatment is suitable for a particular application.
SR. MATERIALS TESTS
NO.
1 Cement Fineness test, consistency/setting time test
2 Fine Aggregate Sieve analysis
3 Coarse Aggregate Crushing & impact value test
4 Steel (Fe500/550) Tensile and elongation test
5 Concrete(M40) Slump cone test
(Table No. 4)-Testing of Materials

• Sieve analysis: -
Sieve analysis helps to determine the particle size distribution of the
coarse and fine aggregate. This is done by sieving the aggregate as per IS:
2386(part 1)-1963. In this we use different sieve as standardizes by the IS
code and then pass aggregate though them and thus collect different
sized particles left over different sieves.
1. A set of IS sieves used are: 4.75mm, 10mm, 20mm, 40mm.
2. Balance or scale with an accuracy to measure 0.1 % of the weight
of the test sample.
• Compressive Strength of Concrete Cubes: -
CTM machine is used to determine the compressive strength of
Concrete. Generally, it can be determined in N/m2. It is an important
test regarding with the concrete.
2.4: Compressive Strength of Grade of Concrete: -

Grade of concrete Minimum compressive Minimum compressive

strength (N/mm2 at 7 strength (N/mm2 at
days) 28days)
M15 10 15
M20 13.5 20
M25 17 25
M30 20 30

construction)
(Table No. 5): Compressive Strength of Grade of Concrete

2.5 Construction Equipment’s and Machines: -

Construction equipment refers to heavy duty vehicles design for executive
construction tasks, most frequently involving earthwork operations.
1. Concrete Mixer: - Concrete Mixer Machine that permits homogeneous
mixing of cement-aggregate such as sand or gravel, and water to form
concrete.
2. JCB Back Hoe Loader: - JCB Back Hoe Loaders are very common and can
be used for a wide variety of tasks.

3. Bar Cutting Machine: - A Bar Cutting Machine is fit to cut a lot of steels
used in various concrete structures such as common carbon steels, hot
and cold – rolled round steel, deformed steel bars as well as flat steel,
square steel and angle steel. It is capable of cutting the steel with a
diameter of 6mm, 10mm and 12mm etc.

[Link] Vibrator: - Needle Vibrator is used for compaction of concrete.

it can be used where the spacing between two adjacent reinforcement bars
is very small. The vibrator of size 40mm is used at the site.
2.6 Labor Availability
All category of skilled as well as unskilled labors are available. Other facilities
such as transport, food, water and medicinal care are available to them. Skilled
Labors are preferred in every work including concreting, formwork, shuttering,
reinforcement work, curing etc. along with unskilled labor.

1. Skilled 10-12
2. Semi-skilled 15-18
3. Unskilled 25-30
(Table No. 6): Worker Availability

2.7 Safety Measurements: -

• All worker used PPE like helmets, safety shoes and gloves.
• First-aid kits were available on-site for emergencies.
• Regular safety briefing was conducted by the supervisor.
CHAPTER 3
DAY-WISE WORK EXPERIENCE

• DAY 1(20/5/2025): -

On first day of site training, we had a visit to whole site for industrial
training. We got introduce with the site engineer, contractor, and labors. They
gave us the general information about Tirupati construction. Learnt from them
how to tackle and communication with other workers.

• DAY 2(21/5/2025): -

We visited the different section of Tirupati construction under the supervisor.

• DAY 3(22/5/2025): -

Through this internship, also interact with many different engineering firms and
subcontractors at the construction site. This allow for us to learn many
different aspects of the construction process, giving us a total glimpse at how
large-scale civil project are executed.

• DAY 4(23/5/2025): -

Site was visited, observation of site with site engineer was done, basic things
were introduced by the engineer and drawings were provided as below.

• DAY 5(24/5/2025): -

Raft foundation bottom reinforcement work was in progress. Cover blocked

were placed to maintained concrete cover. Column starter bars were fixed at
designated positions.
• DAY 6 TO DAY 8 (25/5/2025 - 27/5/2025): -

16mm & 20mm bars are placed and cover blocks maintained. Binding wires
used and supervision done as per structural plan. Bottom and top mesh
reinforcement work in progress. Column starter bar aligned as per drawing.

• DAY 9 TO DAY 11 (28/5/2025 - 30/5/2025): -

Shuttering was placed and properly aligned. Props and supports were fixed to
hold the shuttering. Packing was done at joints to prevent leakage of concrete
and the formwork system was fully checked before concreting.

• DAY 12 TO DAY 18 (31/5/2025-6/6/2025): -

Raft foundation concreting with M40 grade concrete in progress. Surface

levelling and compaction done using vibrators and initials wet curing started
using jute bags and water spray.
• DAY 19 TO DAY 20 (7/6/2025-8/6/2025): -

Formwork removed after 7-day curing period and raft edges and column stater
bars exposed for further construction.

• Day 21 to day 23(9/6/2025-11/6/2025): -

Vertical steel bars are placed as per structural drawings and lateral ties or
stirrups are fixed to maintained spacing and ensure stability before concreting.

• DAY 24 TO DAY 28(12/6/2025-17/6/2025): -

Concrete is poured into the column formwork using a chute and vibrator.
Proper compaction ensure strength and eliminates air voids.
CHAPTER 4
CONCLUSION
• The training gave me an important chance to work with knowledgeable
Engineer Rahul Rai, high-skilled labor and semi- skilled labor.

• The training was so beneficial and gave us lot of experience and

knowledge regarding with the actual construction method perform at
site.

• Training also develops the better communication with labors who were
working at the site.

• During training time, many fundamental problems were cleared. We met

with professional engineers and understood the way of working.

• We also learned that civil engineering is not only giving the theoretical
knowledge but also used in our day-to-day life for construction of any
type of structures.
