Measurement of length and distance using non-standard units (e.g., paper clips, blocks,
hand span, foot span).

III. Learning Resources


• Manila paper / cartolina
• Pictures/real objects (pencil, book, table, chair)
• Non-standard units (paper clips, bottle caps, blocks, popsicle sticks, hand span, foot
span)
• Flashcards with images for activity
• PowerPoint slides with sample pictures (if technology is available)

IV. Procedures
a. Reviewing previous lesson: Teacher: "Do you still remember what we learned
yesterday?" Children: "Yes, Teacher! We learned about big and small objects."

b. Establishing a purpose: Teacher: "Why do you think it is important to measure


things?" Children: "So we know how long or short something is!"

c. Presenting examples: (Show a picture of a pencil and paper clips) Teacher: "Here is a
pencil. How can we find out how long it is without a ruler?" Children: "We can use paper

paper clips long."
