1 Overview

Hi there! This small tutorial should help you to boost the performance of Minecraft on
your device and give you a better time inside the game. I’ll show a couple ways to en-
hance your gameplay experience and make it look much, much better. For comparison,
here’s a before-and-after using my personal settings:1

And keep in mind that even this can still be improved, depending on your hardware
components!

The minimum number of mods to install are 52 however, to achieve the state of the
game I have, you’ll need a couple more. I’ll provide you with the files as well as the
download links to the files. If you have any questions or issues, feel free to ping me in

2 The Essentials

Attached to this tutorial you’ll find 2 zip files:

Download both and unzip them to whichever location you like, we will come back to
them later on.

2.1 Iris + Fabric

Okay so, first of all: Since we’re working with mods, shaderpacks & resourcepacks, we
can’t use the vanilla launcher. Luckily there are many options for us, we’ll go with a com-
bination of Iris and Fabric for this instance. Head over to the [Link]. In there you’ll
find a file called [Link]. Double click to open and set the parameters as
shown below:

Leave the installation directory as .minecraft unless you chose a custom location when
installing Minecraft originally. Now simply hit Install and you should be good to go. If
there’s a pop-up about existing mods, click Yes and carry on as usual.

Pop open the Minecraft Launcher and you should see a new installation called Fabric
Loader 1.21.1.

Now head over to Installations on the top end of your screen, spot the new Fabric in-
stallation, hover over it and click the button with the 3 dots on the right. Then click Edit
and you should end up in the settings menu. Go to MORE OPTIONS on the bottom and
edit this number…

2G in this instance means, Minecraft can use up to 2 Gigabytes of your RAM to calculate
its things. I’d recommend putting it to about 70% of your total RAM, for me that’s 16GB
so I’ll change it to -Xmx10G. Then click Save on the bottom and start the game up once.

Once you did that, close it again. That was just to create all the necessary files and fold-
ers (if they weren’t there before already). Congrats, you’ve now successfully set up a
modded Minecraft launcher! This alone should boost your fps-count, but we’re not done
yet.

2.2 Performance Mods

You’ll probably notice that there are 3 more files in the unzipped folder:

- fabric-api-0.114.0+[Link]
- noisium-fabric-2.3.0+[Link]

What you want to do is press Win + R to open the shortcut menu…

… and type in %appdata% just as I did. Hit enter and it should open up your file explorer,
where you’ll find a .minecraft folder. Double click that and locate the mods folder, dou-
ble click it again and then paste the three above-mentioned jar’s in there.

 You should now have a total of 5 mods in your mods-folder, as shown in the next image:

Done!3 That should be it, you have now successfully installed the 3 performance mods
as well as the necessary launcher. This should give you a much better render distance
and boost your overall fps-count. :)

3 The Extension

3.1 Shaders

One of the easiest and best ways to create a more immersive experience inside Mine-
craft is to alter the game’s visuals through a shader. Since DH is very new, not a lot of
shaders are supported yet. So you might need to say goodbye to either your old shader
(if you used one) or DH’s enhanced render distance.

Anyways, we’ll take a look at the Complementary Reimagined shader now, you’ll find
the file (a zipped folder) in the [Link] file. Simply take and move it to:

%appdata% > .minecraft > shaderpacks

As I said, paste it there and that’s it. The shader now works for you!4

3.2 QOL-Enhancements

This point isn’t necessarily needed, but a very nice addition to the game in my experi-
ence. Let’s tackle them one-by-one:

3.2.1 Camera Utils

Located in the [Link] folder you’ll find this file:

- [Link]

This mod enhances your in-game camera and gives you many great options for it, such
as zooming, giving it a fixed position and moving your character away from it, etc etc.
Simply paste it in the mods folder and you’re done. Once you’re in game, hit esc to enter
the pause menu and head over to Options > Controls > Key Binds and scroll down until
you stumble across the Camera Utils tabs.

3.2.2 Continuity

Also located in the [Link] folder there’s this file:

- continuity-3.0.0+[Link]

This mod allows for a better look on certain blocks like glass, wood planks, bookshelves,
etc. Again, take it and paste it to the mods folder. Once you’re in game, hit esc to enter
the pause menu and go to Options > Resource Packs and you should find these two:5

If you hover over them, a small triangle should appear on their icon. Click that to move
it over into the Selected tab. Then hit Done, don’t panic as the loading screen will come
on for a second aaand done! That’s all, what it should to is change nearby blocks to be
connected to one another.6

3.2.3 Better Leaves

The last QOL-enhancement I’ll show you is this:

This one is a little different for two reasons:

- Pretty obvious, it’s a .zip folder and not a .jar file as before.
- It shouldn’t end up in the mods folder.

Not to worry though, its just as simple. Take it and head over to:

%appdata% > .minecraft > resourcepacks

… and simply paste the zipped folder there. Start the game and press esc to get to the
pause menu, head over to Options > Resource Packs and you’ll see this:

Once you hover over the thing, a small triangle appears where the icon is. Simply click it
to move the addon over into the Selected tab and done! This alone brings much more
life into your leaves. Changes are:

3.2.4 Chunky

The final mod included in the [Link] folder is Chunky. Chunky is an automated
chunk generator, that pre-loads chunks for you which takes a bit of time and cpu
power at first, but significantly reduces lag once its done because you don’t load new
chunks whenever you come near them. Simply take the [Link] and paste it
in the mods folder. No need to activate anything, it should run from now on.

The 4 most important commands are:

- /chunky center → this sets your current position as starting point.

Once you remember those 4, you’re good to go. Chunky has more functions, but they’re
irrelevant for us here.

4 Settings

4.1 Complementary Reimagined

For this you’ll need to go into the shader pack settings, you’ll find those in Options >
Video Settings > Shader Packs > Shader Pack Settings. To go directly into the shader
menu, you can simply press O on your keyboard. I won’t describe every step manually
now, instead I’ll just add screenshots of my settings.

That should be all pretty much for the shader settings. This should help you achieve the
same look as I showcased in this tutorial, you can always tinker with the settings yourself
and see what works best for you and your device.

5 Epilog

That’s it, now your Minecraft should be running smoothly, and you have a good base
to start adding mods yourself. I’ll update this tutorial in the future with new releases
and better mods being available. For now, have fun and enjoy the game. :)
