 Prayer
(The teacher will call a pupil to lead
the prayer) …in the name of our Lord Jesus, Amen

absent today. No one is absent ma’am.
You may now take your seats. Thank you ma’am.
 Passing of Assignments
Kindly pass your assignments (The learners will pass their assignments)
 Action Song
( The teacher will teach and play a
math song with action) (The students will sing and act the song)
a. Review
Raise the like sign if the statement is
correct and Dislike sign if the
statement is incorrect.

1. 10% is equal to 0.1 in decimals. (Like sign)

2. 12% is equal to 0.25 in decimals (Dislike sign)
3. 23% is equal to 0.23 in decimals (Like sign)
4. 75% is equal to 0.75 in decimals (Like sign)
5. 105% is equal to 1.5 in decimals (Dislike sign)
b. Motivation
I need to buy a new black shoes
because my shoes are already
damaged, can you help me decide
which of these is the best, considering
the price? The learner will choose from the picture
given.
c. Unlocking of Difficulties
Let us read and learn our words of the 1. Earn- to get, or gain
week. 2. Value- worth or equivalent
3. Pricelist- list of prices
4. Missing- not seen.
5. Formula- a way to get something.
6. Substitute- replacement
7. Cheapest- something that has the
lowest price.
8. Affordable- somethng that can be buy
easily.

B. Presentation
Our lesson for today has something to
do with these numbers. Let us read the Less 50%, Less 12% , Less 45%
following numbers.

What do we call this symbol again? % Percent ma’am.

Correct! Numbers with this symbol is what
we call the rate. Please read what is the
meaning of rate. Rate- is the number compared to 100. It has
the symbol %.
Next we have the word base. Please read what
is base. Base- is the number of amount that represents
a whole or the entire amount.
Thank you, ok from our shoes pricelist earlier
can you identify the base, according to the
meaning that your classmate have read? 1,600 pesos
800 pesos
1,200 pesos
Very good!

Now we are still missing a number so we can

Identify the cheapest shoes that I need. We
call it the percentage. Please read. Percentage- is the number or amount that
represents a part of a whole.
Ok, from the numbers given on the following
items, can you tell me what are the
percentages? There are no other number ma’am.
Yes, because we need to solve for it.
We will use a triangle method to solve for the
percentage.

The formula for percentage is P= RxB

Now let us substitute the value of Rate and

Base from one of our given earlier. Let’s try
the first one. P = 50%X1600

But we need the decimal value of 50% so we

can multiply them. What is 50% in decimals? 0.5 maam.

Correct! So we will have P= 0.5X1600

So P= 800 pesos. Now we Subtract 800 pesos
from 1600. Because the final price says 50%
less 1,600. 50% of 1600 is 800 so, 1600- 800
is 800 pesos. 800 pesos is the price of the first
shoes.

Let us try the second given. Who can

substitute the value of P=RxB? P= 12%X800.

Ok, next we look for the decimal value of

12% which is? 0.12

Very good!, so then it will become? P=0.12X800

Ok, so what is the percentage? P= 96

Is that the final price of the second shoes? No ma’am, we will subtract 96 to the original
price which is 800 pesos. So it will become
704 pesos ma’am, the final price of the
Well said. second shoes.

So which is cheaper, the first or the second

shoes? The second shoes ma’am.

Correct, ok now who wants to solve for the

percentage of the last given? P=RXB
P=45%X1200
P= 0.45X1200
P=540
Final Price= 1200-560
Final Price is 660 pesos.

Now, which shoes should I buy? The third shoes ma’am.

Yes, correct. Why should I choose the last
shoes? It is the cheapest ma’am.
Excellent! Thank you for helping me choose
the most affordable shoes. You’re welcome ma’am.

Let us try more examples.

Please read. Suppose that your teacher will give you 500
pesos to start a small business. Your business
should earn 25%. What is the percentage of
25% of 500 pesos.

First let us identify rate and the base 25%- Rate

500 pesos- Base

What is our formula again? P=RXB

Ok now let us substitute. P= 25%X500

P= 0.25X500
P= 125 pesos
Ok, another example.
Please read. The 210 learners from CRCES helps in tree
planting project. 10% of them planted mango
trees. How many student planted mango
trees?
Can anyone find for the number of learners
who planted mango trees? P= RXB
P= 10%X210
P= 0.1X210
P= 21 learners.

C. Generalization
How do we get the percentage of the
number? First we identify the rate and the base from
the given. Then use the formula P=RX.
Followed by changing the the rate to decimal
form and then substitute the values.
Why do we need to study about
percentage? Learning percentage can help you become a
wise consumer.

D. Application
(The teacher will call the group leader to
get the materials for their activity)
Create a budget plan for your allowance.
With the given numbers, identify the amount
or percentage how will you allot your money.
Activity 1
Your mom has given you 120 pesos as your 1
week allowance in school. You saved 15% of
it and allot 85% for food. How much is your
saving? And how much is your budget for
your food?

Budget Plan on my 1 week Allowance of

120 pesos.

Saving- 15% = ___________ pesos.

Food - 85% = ___________pesos.

15%

85%
IV. Evaluation

A. Solve for the percentage.

1. 14% of 85= ________

2. 22% of 90= ________
3. 11% of 121= ________
4. 52% of 29 = ________
5. 61% of 82= ________

V. Assignment

A. Identify the percentage of the following problem.

1. Kara received 385 pesos from her aunts who visited their house last Saturday. If she
promised to give 10% to the church as her tithes, how much should she offer on Sunday?
2. The Grade 5 learners earned 702 pesos from the non-biodegradable trash they sell from
the school. If they use the 20% of their earnings to buy cleaning materials, how much will
they spend for the cleaning materials?
3. There are 175 scouts who join the barangay clean-up drive. If 32% help in cleaning the
water ways of the barangay. How many among the 175 scouts clean the water ways?

B. With the help of your parent, create a budget plan of your monthly expenses at home.
Use percentage, base and rate. Refer to the sample below.

Base/Monthly Family Income= 30,000

Rates= 35%- Education

40 %- Food
10%- Bills
5%- Miscellaneous
10%-Savings

Percentages= 10,500 pesos- Education

12,000 pesos- Food
3,000 pesos- Bills
1,500 pesos- Miscellaneous
3,000 pesos- savings.
