ADD EYES Row 1. Purl

Find the Eye Bumps - pushing your little finger/ pinky, into the bumps from Row 2. Skpo, knit to last 2 sts, k2tog – 11sts

Adding a Wire Armature
The wires I use are 30cm in length and for the hind legs I use one length for
both legs so measure the length of both legs from one foot, across the body
to the other foot and then double this length plus an inch or so. Trim off the
excess wire.
Fold the wire so that you have double wire thickness and twist that extra inch
to create a loop of wire which you flatten (what you should have is a flattened
loop of yarn which is joined by twisting the ends, the length should be the same
as the two legs from one foot to the other).

Join Foreleg Seams

Noting that the first three rows down from 6 sts cast-on sts are for the shoulder, match
the foreleg row ends and mattress stitch the tiny seam to join the back of the foreleg
seam from where the i-cord starts. - See Fig. 17, as dotted lines
Now is where you add wire if you want your toad to be pose-able as follows:

Adding a Wire Armature and Joining the Forelegs to the body

Measure the length of both forelegs from one foot, across the body to the other foot and
X
then double this length plus an inch or so. Trim off the excess wire.
Fold the wire so that you have double wire thickness and twist that extra inch to create a
loop of wire which you flatten (what you should have is a flattened loop of yarn which is
joined by twisting the ends, the length should be the same as the two legs from one foot to
the other).
Pass the wire into the body in at ‘X’ See Fig. 18, and out the other side at a similar place
then pass the wire into the arms .
Finally over-sew around the shoulder joining it to the body, lifting up the foreleg to join
the cast on edge to complete the joining of the forelegs to the body. - See Figs. 19 & 20 FIG. 18
