Tutor Evaluation Record

Revision 3 (April 2022)
Tutor evaluation observation & record

Introduction

It is a CQI/IRCA requirement that all tutors delivering accredited courses have their performance
monitored, including observation of course delivery, sample tutor marking, an annual performance
review and the managing of underperformance, identifying any development needs. It is also a
CQI/IRCA requirement that this is recorded.

To support this requirement, this document provides country managers and delegated authorities a
platform to ensure all tutors delivering CQI/IRCA courses comply with this.

It is recommended that ALL tutors, regardless of courses they are delivering should be observed in line
with this document.

How to use this document

NO LESS THAN ANNUALLY a competent person, holding I-Code I-002 is to complete an observation of
each tutor either ILT or VILT.
Each element on the form is either relevant to VILT – indicated by a V or ILT - indicated by an I. Be
aware some elements are relevant to both delivery types.

The reviewer shall indicate whether or not they have observed that particular element with any
supporting comments and use this record to prioritise any development opportunities for the tutor, along
with Annex B of this document which identified 10 key pillars to ensure that the tutor is demonstrating
the skills needed to deliver training in line with the Standard of Excellence.

The observation shall be discussed with the tutor and any improvement opportunities documented.

Annex A provides a record of any CPD that the tutor has carried out to evidence that they remain
competent to deliver these courses and can also be used to support I-code application and renewal.

FOR CQI/IRCA A MINIMUM OF TWO DELVIERIES PER YEAR IS REQUIRED
