1. Broad Area of Work

This project falls within the domains of Cloud Computing and Software Quality
Assurance, focusing on cloud-native systems, automated testing frameworks, and
predictive maintenance for mission-critical applications in the banking sector. It
integrates advanced cloud orchestration, machine learning, and automation. The current
research project focus in the following application areas:

● Machine learning: To extract the right information for predictive maintenance which
adapts and detect new patters.
● AWS: To create example cloud-native systems using AWS CodePipeline, AWS SageMaker
and CodeBuild etc., incorporating Python scripts for functional, performance, and security
tests.
● Automated testing: To ensure system resilience, scalability, and regulatory compliance.

2. Background

The rapid evolution and adoption of cloud-native systems and software-defined networks
in the banking sector has introduced challenges in maintaining operational continuity,
compliance, and security.

The complexity of cloud-orchestrated systems requires robust testing frameworks that

automate critical processes such as payment validation, fraud detection, and system
upgrades. Additionally, system downtime poses financial and reputational risks, making
predictive maintenance essential.

Current solutions often lack integration between automated testing and predictive
analytics, leading to inefficiencies.

This project bridges the gap by developing an AI-driven, automated testing framework
tailored for cloud-orchestrated banking applications, leveraging AWS as the primary cloud
service provider.
3. Objectives

The objectives of my project are as follows:

● Develop a scalable, automated testing framework for cloud-native banking

systems hosted on AWS.
● Implement machine learning models for predictive maintenance to reduce
downtime and enhance system reliability.
● Ensure compliance with banking regulations by incorporating secure logging,
monitoring, and automated audits.
● Optimize costs using open-source tools integrated with AWS services.
● Demonstrate the framework's adaptability to other cloud platforms, such as
Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

4. Scope of Work

The project involves the following components:

• Testing Automation: Design and implementation of a CI/CD pipeline using AWS

services (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, Lambda). Automated test cases for functional,
performance, and security testing will target critical banking operations.

• Predictive Maintenance: Use of AWS SageMaker to develop and deploy machine

learning models capable of identifying and predicting failures in cloud-
orchestrated systems.

• Monitoring and Compliance: Leverage AWS CloudWatch, Config, and SNS for real-
time monitoring, logging, and notification systems to meet regulatory standards.

• Cost Optimization: Incorporate open-source tools (e.g., Locust, PyTest) to reduce

testing and traffic simulation costs while maintaining compatibility with AWS
infrastructure.

8. Remarks of the Supervisor

The study and project seem to very promising. The student had covered all the relevant
literature review. The project is holding the current domain of research and justified the
level of dissertation for master studies. The outcome covered by the project seems very
interesting and include all the state of arts in today’s era of information science. The
project also includes the user study on the working prototype. This activity completely
validates the research project. This project also contains the prospect of publication in
future. After the initial meeting with the student, I got an impression that she is hard
working student and have the skills to implement the experiment in standard research
paradigm. I approved the following project as the supervisor.
