5 MURDERS, 1 SERIAL KILLER
One of the most famous unsolved cases happened in the decade of 1880´s in London England, there so
many theories about this case, but nobody knows what really hapenned.
Who was him? How it hapenned? Who were his victims?
In this exposition we´re going to talk about the case of Jack the Ripper.
WHO WAS JACK THE RIPPER?
Jack the Ripper was the name of one of the most famous serial killers in the history who is believed to
have killed 5 people in the área of Whitechapel (London) in 1888.
The real identity of the murder was never discovered, And the mystery of the case has aroused the
interest of thousands of people in all parts of the Word
WHAT HAPPENED?
This case beggings on August 31, 1888. When in whitechapel , a poor region of London, the pólice
found the decapitated body of a prostitute on the streets of London, they could not dicovered the
killer, however after a couple of weeks the report of a new murder was delivered to the pólice, It was
another woman killed in the same way as the previous victim, thanks to this the authorities issued an
alarm to the neighborhood of Whitechapel and began to look for suspects who knew anatomy because
the cuts found in the victims indicated that it was a person with studies in medicine.
Unfortunately the culprit was never found and more murders were reported and the killer began
sending letters to the police with details of the murders signed by the nickname of “ Jack The Ripper”
HIS VICTIMS
there are 5 victims of Jack the ripper who are believed to have been murdered in a span of 12 weeks.
They were all prostitutes except one. All of them were brutally mutilated. And the medical habilities of
the murderer had created a lot of speculations. many people says that he must have been a doctor or a
butcher.
His victims were as follows:
Mary Nichols: 31th august de 1888 – she was discovered in Buck’s Row
Annie Chapman: 8th september 1888 – discovered in Hanbury Street, Spitalfields
Elizabeth Stride: 30th september 1888 – Discovered in the Dutfield’s Yard of Berner Street
Catherine Eddowes: 30th september 1888 – Discovered in Mitre Square in London city
Mary Kelly: 9th november 1888 – Discovered in her own house, 13 Miller’s Court, Dorset Street,
Spitalfield
While a lot of people tought that Jack could have dead, have gone to the jail or gone to another
country, the police puts other 4 victims in it list:
Rose Mylett: 19th december 1888 – Discovered in Clarke’s Yard, High Street, Poplar
Alice McKenzie: 9th july 1889 – found in Castle Alley, Whitechapel
The Pinchin Street torso: 10th September 1889- Descubierto en Pinchin Street, Whitechapel
Frances Coles: 13th february 1891 –Discovered en Swallow Gardens, Whitechapel
THEORIES
Hypothesis 1:
Surprisingly, more than 100 suspects were identified, one of the theories with the most support is that
Jack was an educated and upper-class man that could have had mental issues, but if this theorie had
been proved, we would be talking about the posibility that a member of the royal family in england
could have been Jack the Ripper.
If this hypothesis had been real, all the proofs would affirm that Jack the Ripper was the Prince Albert
of clarence, grandchild of the queen victoria and uncle of queen Elizabeth II.
However, this theory is discarded because it was based on the distrust and fear that was had to the
upper class in the United Kingdom.
Hypothesis 2:
The large list of suspects includes many people who are not related with this crimes, but the man who
has been more blamed is the lawyer Montague John Druitt, that was found dead in the tamesis river
after the last murder of this serial killer.
Maybe if the police had found more evidence about this hypothesis, we would know if Jack the Ripper
was the lawyer John Druitt.
Hypothesis 3:
This hypothesis says that Jack the Ripper was a woman, because the killings stopped when Mary
Pearcey was excuted.
the police and experts believes that this theory can be true because if Jack had been a woman, she
would have had a better chance of not being captured.
In addition to analyzing the writing of the letters and some elements found at the scene of the crime of
his last victim we can believe that Jack the Ripper was a woman.
CONCLUSION
There are many theories and hypothesis about this case, however none of these have been confirmed.
Maybe we Will never know who was Jack the Ripper, and for this reason, after a century of this event,
the identity of this serial killer still being a mystery.
