2. Calculate total of the math score, reading score and writing score.
3. Calculate average of the math score, reading score and writing score.
4. Create a new variable namely ‘grade’ by recoding the average score as follows:
Recode average marks <40 as ‘F’
Recode average marks 40 to <50 as ‘D’
Recode average marks 50 to <60 as ‘C’
Recode average marks 60 to <70 as ‘B’
Recode average marks 70 to <80 as ‘A’
Recode average marks ≥80 as ‘A+’
5. Calculate mean, median, mode, standard deviation, variance, quartiles, skewness and
kurtosis of the ‘math score’.
6. Calculate mean, median, mode, standard deviation, variance, quartiles, skewness and
kurtosis of the ‘math score’ separately for male and female.
7. Calculate mean, median, mode, standard deviation, variance, quartiles, skewness and
kurtosis of the ‘total score’ separately for different parental level of education.
8. Present the variable gender graphically by using pi diagram and present the parental level
of education by using bar diagram.
9. Present the distribution of total score by histogram and box plot.
10. Present the distribution of reading score by histogram and box plot separately for
different levels of lunch.
11. Present the distribution of average score by histogram and box plot separately for male
and female.
12. Calculate the coefficient of correlation between reading score and writing score. Also
comment on the results.
13. Fit a regression model of writing score on reading score.
14. Test the hypothesis whether average score is equal to 70.
15. Test the hypothesis whether the mean reading score for male and female are equal or not.
16. Test whether the mean writing score is equal for different parental levels of education.
17. Test whether there is significant correlation between math score and reading score.
18. Test whether there is significant association between gender and parental level of
education.
