Intern Application Developer (Vehicle Data Pipeline)
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Intern Application Developer to join our Vehicle Data
Pipeline (VDP) team. In this role, you will be at the heart of our data ecosystem, building the
robust backend services that power Ather Lab features. You will be responsible for developing
scalable applications that process high-velocity vehicle telematics data, ensuring seamless data
flow from our vehicles to our internal platforms.
This is an ideal role for an Aspiring Backend or Data Engineer who enjoys working with
distributed systems, real-time stream processing, and high-performance microservices to
enhance our vehicle intelligence capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
● Feature Development: Assist in designing and building new features for the Ather Lab
platform using Java and the Spring Boot framework.
● Stream Processing: Implement and optimize real-time data processing logic using
Apache Kafka and Kafka Streams to handle complex vehicle telemetry.
● Data Persistence: Develop and maintain efficient database schemas and queries in
Postgres to ensure high availability and performance of vehicle-related data.
● Pipeline Scalability: Work on the core Vehicle Data Pipeline to improve throughput,
reduce latency, and ensure the reliability of data ingestion from edge devices.
● Collaborative Engineering: Partner with data scientists and frontend engineers to
expose clean, well-documented APIs and ensure data integrity across the stack.
Technical Skills
● Core Development: Proficiency in Java and experience building RESTful services with
Spring Boot.
● Data Streaming: Foundational understanding of Apache Kafka and real-time
processing concepts (e.g., Kafka Streams).
● Databases: Strong knowledge of Postgres or similar relational databases, including
SQL optimization and schema design.
● Optional: Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure) for
deploying distributed applications.
