🌺 SCENE 1 – The Legend of Te Fiti

🌺 SCENE 1 – The Legend of Te Fiti (Summarized Version)

Narrator (calm, storytelling):

Before our island had a name, there was only ocean. From its depths rose Te Fiti — the
mother island, a goddess of creation who shared her gift of life with the world.

Gramma:

But greed grew in some hearts. Maui, the daring demigod of the wind and sea, stole the
heart of Te Fiti using his magical fishhook. When he took it, Te Fiti crumbled, and
darkness was born.

As Maui fled, he was struck down by Te Kā, a demon of fire and earth. Maui vanished,
and the heart was lost to the sea. Since then, the darkness has continued to spread.

(children reactions)

But one day, the heart will be found by someone brave enough to sail beyond the reef,
find Maui, restore Te Fiti’s heart, and save the world.

Narrator (soft, hopeful):

And so the legend lives on — not as a story of fear, but as a promise that the ocean will
choose a hero.

🌊 SCENE 2 – Duty and Destiny

Narrator: Years passed. The ocean chose a child. That child grew into Moana.

(Moana walks toward the ocean.)

Father: Moana. Come back to the village. You are not just my daughter. You are the future chief
of our people.

Mother: You carry something special, my little minnow. A strength that even you don’t see yet.

Father: But before you can lead… you must understand where you belong.
Narrator: Her father saw responsibility. But Moana felt something calling her beyond the
horizon.

🌴 SCENE 3 – Celebration
(“Where You Are”)

Narrator: The village celebrates tradition. They sing of belonging. Moana smiles… but her eyes
drift to the sea — to something more.

🌊 SCENE 4 – The Reef

Moana:

What if we fish beyond the reef? What if the answers are waiting where we are too afraid to
look?

(Silence.)

Father: No one goes beyond the reef.

Moana: But the lagoon is empty. Our nets come back light. There is a whole ocean out there.

Father:We have one rule.

Moana: An old rule.

Father:A rule that keeps us safe!

Moana: But what if staying safe is what slowly destroys us?

Father (hurt, emotional): No one goes beyond the reef!

Narrator: His anger was not control. It was fear.

🌺 Mother Scene 5
Mother of Moana: he’s hard on you because

Moana: because he doesn’t get me

Mother of Moana: Your father was once like you. He loved the ocean. He believed it was
calling him. He crossed the reef. And the sea was not kind. The waves were taller than hope.
The sky was darker than fear. His best friend… His brother in everything but blood… Didn’t
come home.

(Pause.)

Your father didn’t just lose a friend that day. He lost the ocean.

(Pause. Let audience feel it.)

He is not trying to cage you. He is trying to protect the only thing he has left.

Narrator (closing): Love can protect — but it can also hold on too tightly.

🌊 SCENE 6
(“How Far I’ll Go”)

Narrator: And in her song, Moana does not just sing of distance — she sings of identity.

🌺 SCENE 7
Grandma: When I die, I’ll come back as one of these. Or I chose the wrong tattoo.

Moana: Why are you acting strange?

Grandma (smiles):Because the truth sounds strange to those who are afraid of it. I’m the
village crazy lady. That’s my job.

Narrator: But she was more than that. She was the keeper of their history.
🌊 SCENE 8 – The Choice
Grandma (serious): Go.

Moana: Gramma?

Grandma: The ocean chose you.

Moana: I can’t leave you.

Grandma: Love does not hold you back. It sends you forward. Follow the fishhook. When you
find Maui, tell him: “I am Moana of Motunui. You will board my boat, sail across the sea,and
restore the heart of Te Fiti.” There is nowhere you could go that I will not be with you.

Narrator: And so, she sails beyond the reef.

🌊 SCENE 9 – Meeting Maui

Narrator (slightly playful): Far from home, Moana finally meets the legend — Maui. The hero
of stories. The demigod. The one who started it all.

Moana (practicing): I am Moana of Motunui. You will board my boat—

Maui: Boat! A boat!

(Maui screams.)

Moana: Maui. Shapeshifter. Demigod of the wind and sea

maui: hero of men

Maui: it’s actually Maui Shapeshifter demigod of the wind and sea hero of men

moana: what? im here to..

maui: of course. Yes yes yes. Maui always has time for his fans every day

(nag drawing si maui ng hook and heart sa sagwan ni moana)

moana: you are not my hero. And I’m not here so you can sign my oar. I am here, cause you
stole the heart of Te feti. And you will board my boat… across the ocean and put it back!

Maui (laughs): Wow. It almost sounds like you don’t like me. Which is impossible — I spent a
thousand years trying to bring that Heart back as a gift for you mortals. You’re welcome.

Moana: I did not say thank you.

Maui (smirks, stepping forward): Oh, you were about to.

(Music cue. Maui grins at the audience.)

Maui: Let me make it easier for you.

🎵 “You’re Welcome” begins 🎵

Narrator: But even heroes sometimes hide behind laughter.

🦀 SCENE 10 – Tamatoa
Narrator: To restore the heart, they must enter Lalotai — the Realm of Monsters.

Moana: How did you become so… crabulous?

Tamatoa: Are you trying to get me to talk about myself? Because if you are, I would gladly do
so…

Moana: Huh?

Tamatoa: In song form.

(“Shiny”)

Narrator: In a world obsessed with treasure, Moana holds something far more powerful —
courage.

🌊 SCENE 11 – Doubt
Narrator (emotional): Even the brave grow tired. Even the chosen doubt themselves.

Moana (on knees, broken): I thought I was chosen. But maybe I was just… wrong. Maybe I’m
not a [Link] I’m just a girl who went too far.

(Grandma’s spirit appears.)

Moana: I tried, Grandma. Maybe the ocean made a mistake.

Grandma’s Spirit: The ocean does not make mistakes. If you go home, I will be with you. But if
you stay… remember who you are.

Grandma (soft, warm): You are not defined by how far you go. You are defined by who you [Link]
you are Moana…Be Moana.

(Soft pause before song begins.)

(“I Am Moana”)

Moana (strong): I am Moana of Motunui. Aboard my boat, I will sail across the sea Daughter of
the chief. Descendant of voyagers. And I will restore the heart of Te Fiti.
🔥 SCENE 12 – The Truth
Narrator (powerful, slow): This is not a battle of strength. It is a moment of understanding.

Moana: Let her come to me.

(Te Kā approaches.)

Narrator (gentle):

And in that moment, Moana sees the truth — Te Kā was never a monster. She was a wounded
goddess.

(Transformation.)

🌺 SCENE 13 – FINALE
Narrator (opening): The heart is restored. The ocean breathes again. The islands bloom with
life, and the people of Motunui gather to welcome their daughter home — not just as a child of
the island, but as a wayfinder.

(Village celebrates. Drums begin softly.)

Moana (looking at her people): The ocean was never trying to take me away from you. It was
showing me who we are. We were voyagers once. We crossed the horizon not to escape — but
to discover.

(Heihei runs across the stage awkwardly.)

Moana (laughs softly): And somehow… even he made it back.

(Pua runs to Moana.)

Moana (kneels, hugging Pua): I missed you, Pua. You would have loved the ocean… well,
maybe not all of it.

(Father steps forward.)

Father (proud, emotional): You did what I was too afraid to do. You reminded us who we are.

Mother: Our daughter didn’t just cross the reef…She brought the sea back to us.

(Moana looks at the horizon.)

Moana:This time… we sail together.

(Villagers lift paddles. Canoes prepared.)

🎵 “We Know the Way” (Reprise) 🎵

Narrator (closing, warm and powerful):

And so the people of Motunui return to the sea — guided not by fear, but by courage.

With a chief who listened to the ocean.

With a demigod who remembered his heart.

With a pig who never stopped believing…

And a rooster who somehow survived it all.

The ocean calls to each of us.

But only the brave choose to answer.

(“We Know the Way” reprise)

Narrator (final line): The ocean calls to each of us. But only the brave choose to answer.
