RULES AND JUDGEGING CRITERIA FOR HACKATHON
Welcome to ElectroSimX, a fast-paced, virtual microcontroller hackathon. This
competition will test your ability to identify a real-world problem and engineer
a simulated hardware solution under pressure.
⏱ Event Overview
Format: 100% Virtual / Simulation-based
Duration: 75-90 mins For Building & 30 mins for Evaluation
Team Size: [1 to 2 Members]
Target Hardware: Any Microcontroller (Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico,
etc.)
🎯 The Challenge: Bring Your Own Problem
We are not handing you a problem statement. Instead, we are giving you a broad
theme.
The Theme: 1) Smart Environment 2) Smart Living 3) Smart Mobility
Your Task: Your team must identify a specific, real-world problem that fits this
theme and design a microcontroller-based solution for it.
The Catch: You must explain why your problem matters, and then successfully
build and code the solution within the 2-hour window.

🛠 Approved Simulation Platforms
Since this is a hardware-free event, you must build and code your circuit using
one of the following browser-based simulators:
Wokwi ([Link]): Recommended for ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico, IoT
projects, and advanced sensors.
Tinkercad ([Link]): Recommended for standard Arduino Uno and basic
digital/analog logic circuits.
📜 Competition Rules
Start from Scratch: You may research and bring your problem statement
ready on day one, but all circuit building and coding must be done live
during the 2-hour window. Pre-built simulation links are not allowed.
Open Internet: You are free to use datasheets, pinout diagrams, and
documentation.
Submission: At the end of the 120 minutes, teams must submit their public
simulator link (Wokwi/Tinkercad) along with a 3-4 sentence description of
the problem they solved.
⚖ Judging Criteria (100 Points Total)
You will be judged on both the quality of your idea and the technical execution
of your simulation.
Part 1: The Problem Statement (40 Points)
Originality (20 pts): Is the problem unique and creative, or is it just a basic
tutorial circuit?
Real-World Impact (20 pts): Does this solution actually solve a meaningful
issue within the theme?

Part 2: Technical Execution (60 Points)
Functionality (25 pts): Does the simulation run correctly without crashing?
Does it meet the goals of your problem statement?
Code Quality (20 pts): Is the embedded code efficient? (e.g., proper use of
variables, avoiding blocking delay() functions, correct logic).
Circuit Design (15 pts): Are the virtual components wired correctly? (e.g.,
proper use of GPIO pins, correct pull-up/pull-down resistors).
A Final Word from the Organizing Team:
We are thrilled to have you compete in ElectroSimX. Remember, this hackathon
isn't just about writing the perfect code or building the flawless circuit—it’s
about how creatively you approach a real-world problem. Trust your skills,
collaborate with your teammate, and enjoy the thrill of building something from
scratch. We can't wait to see the incredible solutions you bring to life. Best
wishes to all participating teams!
