In urban areas, excessive heat absorption by buildings contributes to higher temperatures and increased
energy consumption for cooling. This project explores an eco-friendly cooling paint made from natural
materials such as crushed eggshells, chalk, and cornstarch, which enhance heat reflection and reduce
surface temperatures. Unlike conventional paints that absorb heat, this formulation leverages calcium
carbonate (from eggshells and chalk) to reflect sunlight, helping to cool surfaces naturally. The paint is
non-toxic, biodegradable, and easy to produce, making it a sustainable alternative for reducing heat
buildup on walls, rooftops, and pavements. A simple experiment was conducted by applying the paint to
a metal surface and comparing its temperature with an unpainted surface under sunlight. Results
showed a noticeable cooling effect, demonstrating the potential of this paint in mitigating heat
absorption. This innovation provides a low-cost, environmentally friendly solution to combat urban heat
while repurposing waste materials effectively.
