This project aims to identify the strategies used by SHS teachers in teaching writing. This
also focuses on the problems that these teachers encounter in their writing classes.

SPECIFIC RESEARCH QUESTIONS


1. How do ESL teachers teach writing to Senior High School students?
2. What challenges do ESL teachers experience in teaching writing?

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS:

First Question: How do you teach writing to your ESL class? Do you follow a particular
approach, framework, or theory? Do you follow a particular textbook? If yes, do you follow as is?
Do you follow the stages of writing? What are the foci of the writing activity? Do you require
major writing output? How is it taught?

Second Question: What is your students’ behavior towards writing? How do you find your
students in your writing class?

Third Question: How do you motivate your students to write?

Fourth Question: What do you observe from your students when you give them writing tasks?

Fifth Question: How do you assess your student’s output? Do you use rubrics? Are the rubrics
explained? How do you give feedback on their task? Oral or written?

Sixth Question: What is the common problem you encounter when teaching writing? What
writing difficulties do your students exhibit? How do you deal with it? Do you have an
intervention?
