Service Level Agreement (SLA) Notes
Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud)
Amazon claims its cloud services will be available for 99.99% uptime.
Downtime should not exceed 52 minutes per year.
If downtime exceeds this limit, service credits are issued to customers.
Why SLA is Required?
Builds trust between provider and customer
Ensures business continuity
Provides financial protection
Defines service level expectations
Maintains reputation
Provides legal clarity
Example
A bank application hosted on Microsoft Azure may face losses during downtime.
SLA ensures compensation, reduced legal risks, and protects reputation.
