Instructions:

What is a Pronoun?

A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. We use pronouns to avoid repeating the same
nouns over and over again!

Example:

• Instead of: "Maria loves to read, so Maria goes to the library every week."
• We can say: "Maria loves to read, so she goes to the library every week."

The word "she" is a pronoun that replaces "Maria".

Exercise 1: Find the Pronoun


Instructions: Read each sentence below and circle the pronoun.

1. He is my best friend.
2. Can you help me with this box?
3. They are going to the park after school.
4. She told a very funny joke.
5. This is the book I was telling you about.
