Grease Trap Installation Checklist

1. Pre-Installation Planning

• ■ Confirm local municipal regulations and approval requirements.


• ■ Select correct grease trap capacity based on kitchen load and flow rate.
• ■ Choose appropriate type (Under-sink / In-ground / Automatic unit).
• ■ Verify installation space and maintenance access.
• ■ Ensure gravity flow feasibility.

2. Location Selection

• ■ Install close to kitchen fixtures.


• ■ Connect only kitchen wastewater lines (no toilets/rainwater).
• ■ Ensure proper ventilation.
• ■ Provide easy access for cleaning and inspection.

3. Excavation (For In-Ground Units)

• ■ Mark pipe alignment before excavation.


• ■ Excavate pit with 150mm clearance around unit.
• ■ Provide minimum 100mm PCC base.
• ■ Check proper leveling before placement.

4. Plumbing Connections

• ■ Maintain inlet pipe slope (minimum 1:40).


• ■ Ensure proper outlet gradient.
• ■ Install vent pipe.
• ■ Seal joints properly and test for leakage.
• ■ Install sampling chamber if required.

5. Structural Installation
