Email to Julia

Hi Julia,

Great idea! I think having a party for Jane is a wonderful way to say goodbye and show her how much
we care about her. She’ll definitely appreciate it before moving all the way to Australia.

As for the place, why don’t we have it at the community park near school? It’s spacious, affordable, and
perfect if we want to decorate and play music without worrying too much about noise. If the weather is
bad, we could book the school hall instead.

I believe the weekend would be better than a weekday because everyone will be free from schoolwork
and won’t have to rush home early. That way, we can enjoy the party longer.

About the band, Jane really loves pop music, especially cheerful and energetic songs. She also enjoys a
bit of indie rock, so a band that can play a mix of those styles would be perfect.

Let me know what you think!

2. Paragraph (150–180 words): Why teens are often stressed

Teenagers are often stressed because they face pressure from many different directions at the same
time. One major cause is academic pressure. Schools expect students to achieve high grades, pass
important exams, and think about their future careers. At the same time, many parents have high
expectations, which can make teens feel afraid of disappointing them. Social pressure is another reason.
Teenagers care a lot about friendships and fitting in, and they may worry about their appearance or how
they are perceived by others. Social media also increases stress because young people constantly
compare themselves to others online. In addition, teenagers experience physical and emotional changes
as they grow up, which can make them feel confused or insecure. Many of them also have busy
schedules filled with homework, extracurricular activities, and sometimes part-time jobs. All these
factors combined can make teenage life overwhelming and stressful.

3. Email to Tim (about 150 words)

Hi Tim,

Of course we must meet! I’m really excited that you’ll be spending a day in my town. Since it’s your first
visit, I’d love to show you around and make it special.

In the morning, we could walk around the old town area and visit some famous landmarks. After that,
we can have lunch at a local restaurant where you can try some traditional dishes. In the afternoon, we
could relax at the park or visit the local museum if you’re interested in learning more about our history.

That’s very kind of you to think about bringing a present for my parents. You don’t need to bring
anything expensive. Maybe a small souvenir from your country, such as local sweets or something
traditional, would be perfect.

I can’t wait to see you soon!

4. Paragraph (about 150 words): Studying abroad

I agree that every language learner should spend time in a country where the language is spoken
because the advantages are greater than the disadvantages. First, living in that country allows learners
to practice the language in real-life situations, such as shopping, asking for directions, or making friends.
This daily practice helps improve speaking and listening skills much faster than studying in a classroom.
In addition, students can learn about the culture, traditions, and way of life of native speakers, which
deepens their understanding of the language. Although studying abroad can be expensive and
sometimes challenging due to homesickness or culture shock, these difficulties help students become
more independent and confident. They learn to solve problems on their own and adapt to new
environments. Overall, spending time abroad is a valuable experience that improves both language
ability and personal growth.

5. Email about a new communication tool (100–120 words)

Hi,

I want to tell you about an idea I have for a new communication tool. It would be a small wearable
device, like a bracelet, with a tiny screen and voice control. People could use it to send voice messages,
translate languages instantly, and even share emotions through color signals.

This tool would help people communicate quickly and easily, especially when traveling or working
internationally. One big advantage is that it would break language barriers. However, it might be
expensive at first and could raise privacy concerns.

Even so, I think it would be a great invention because it would connect people all over the world more
effectively.

What do you think?

6. Paragraph (about 200 words): Skills for teenagers to reduce stress

Teenagers can reduce stress and pressure by developing several important life skills. First, time
management is essential. When teenagers learn to plan their schedules, set priorities, and balance study
with relaxation, they feel more in control of their lives. Second, communication skills help them express
their feelings and problems clearly to parents, teachers, or friends instead of keeping everything inside.
Another important skill is problem-solving. When teens learn to face challenges calmly and look for
practical solutions, they become more confident and less anxious. Physical skills also matter. Regular
exercise, healthy eating, and enough sleep greatly improve both mental and physical health. In addition,
relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or listening to music can help calm the mind.
Finally, building positive thinking habits is very powerful. When teenagers learn to focus on their
strengths and accept that nobody is perfect, they feel less pressure to meet unrealistic expectations. By
developing these skills, teenagers can handle stress more effectively and enjoy a healthier, happier life.

7. Letter to Local Authorities (120–150 words)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my concerns about the traditional cultural festival which took place last Saturday
in the central park of our town. I was very happy to take part in this meaningful event, as it helped
promote our local culture and brought the community together.

However, there were some problems that need attention. The music and loudspeakers continued late
into the night, which disturbed nearby residents. In addition, after the event ended, a large amount of
litter such as plastic bottles and food containers was left behind.

I would like to suggest limiting the volume of the music and finishing the event earlier. More trash bins
should also be provided, and volunteers could help clean up immediately after the celebration.

I hope future events will be better organized for everyone’s benefit.

Yours faithfully,

8. Paragraph (150–180 words)

Modern lifestyles have significantly changed the way people value traditions, and I believe this change is
mostly negative. In the past, families spent more time together celebrating traditional festivals and
passing cultural customs from one generation to another. However, today many people are too busy
with work, technology, and social media to maintain these practices. For example, instead of preparing
traditional meals at home, some families prefer ordering fast food because it is more convenient. In
addition, young people are often more interested in global trends than in their own cultural heritage. As
a result, some traditional skills, languages, and customs are slowly disappearing. Although
modernization brings many benefits such as improved living standards and better communication, it
should not replace important cultural values. Traditions give people a sense of identity and belonging.
Therefore, while accepting modern life, we should also make efforts to preserve and respect our cultural
heritage.

9. Letter to Youth Center (120–150 words)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to suggest some ideas to help attract more teenagers to the new lifestyle and health
program at our local youth center. I believe this program is very important because a healthy lifestyle
helps teenagers improve their physical fitness, reduce stress, and build self-confidence.

To make the program more appealing, you could organize fun and interactive activities such as dance
classes, team sports competitions, or fitness challenges with small prizes. Inviting young influencers or
sports coaches to give motivational talks might also encourage students to participate. In addition,
creating social media pages to promote the program could help spread the message more effectively.

I sincerely hope these suggestions will help make the program more popular and successful among
young people.

Yours faithfully,

10. Paragraph (150–180 words)

I agree that teenagers today face more pressure than teenagers in the past. One major reason is
academic competition. Nowadays, students must achieve high grades to enter good universities, and the
competition is much stronger than before. Many teenagers attend extra classes after school, leaving
them little time to relax. In addition, social media has created new types of pressure. Young people often
compare their appearance, achievements, and lifestyles with others online, which can lead to insecurity
and stress. Family expectations also play an important role. Some parents expect their children to excel
not only in academics but also in sports, music, and other activities. Although teenagers in the past also
faced challenges, they did not have to deal with constant online comparison or such intense academic
competition. For these reasons, I believe that modern teenagers experience greater pressure and need
more support from families, schools, and society.
