Workers
lnformation Gathering :
We interviewed 25–30 people and surveyed over 40 residents in our locality
to understand the key problems they face and the actions taken by
authorities. Based on their responses and suggestions, it was clear that poor
sanitation is the most common and urgent issue affecting the community.
Impact example -
Hridayanshu lives in a locality where poor sanitation is a major problem. Due to improper waste
disposal, he often falls sick with stomach infections and spends money on medicines. By improving
sanitation, Hridayanshu’s environment becomes cleaner and healthier, reducing the risk of diseases
and improving his overall quality of life.
Key observations from surveys and interviews:
1- Sanitation was ranked the top issue bya majority of respondents,
above other concerns like water supply or electricity.
2- Most people felt that authorities are not taking adequate steps to
solve sanitation-related problems in their area.
3- Residents suggested better waste segregation and regular cleaning
as the most effective solutions to improve hygiene
Conclusion : From our surveys and interviews, it is clear that sanitation is the most
pressing issue in our locality. People highlighted the lack of proper waste segregation and
irregular cleaning as key concerns. While authorities have taken some measures, they
are not sufficient to address the growing problem. This shows the urgent need for
innovative solutions to improve sanitation practices and raise public awareness, ensuring
a cleaner and healthier community.

Define :
Problem Statement: Citizens in our community face challenges due to lack of
cleanliness, proper waste disposal, and regular maintenance. This not only affects
their health, dignity, and daily comfort, but also contributes to the spread of
diseases and environmental pollution.
Theme Connection – Viksit Bharat 2047:
This problem is directly linked to the themes of Smart Cities and Environmental
Sustainability, as solving sanitation and waste management challenges is essential for
building a cleaner, healthier, and developed India by 2047.
1) Supports the vision of Smart Cities by introducing innovative and sustainable
sanitation solutions.
2)Contributes to Environmental Sustainability by promoting proper waste
segregation and reducing pollution.
Why Solving This Matters for Our Community:
1. Improves public health by reducing infections and diseases caused by
unhygienic waste disposal.

IDEATE
IDEAS THAT OUR TEAM GENERATED
[Link] Segregation Bins – Sensor-based bins with clear indicators for wet, dry, and sanitary waste.
[Link] App Integration – An app to locate bins, track user contributions, and give reward points
for proper disposal.
3. Real-Time Monitoring – IoT-enabled system that alerts authorities when bins are full for timely
maintenance.
4. Awareness Campaigns – Creative posters, digital screens, and community drives to spread
awareness about hygiene and segregation.
5. Recycling Chain Connection – Direct linkage of segregated waste to recycling units, reducing
landfill load and environmental pollution.
Our team chose to develop an app that gamifies
the process of waste disposal , encouraging locals
IDEA We Selected: to participate more in their neighbourhood .
Reason - We selected this idea because it is practical, impactful, and
scalable. A mobile app not only solve the core problem of
unhygienic waste disposal but also engage citizens through rewards
and awareness, ensuring long- term behavioural change. Moreover,
the real-time monitoring feature makes it easier for authorities to
maintain cleanliness efficiently.
Technology Approach :
Technology Approach:
[Link]: We have chosen FlutterFlow, a low-code platform that allows faster UI
development and smooth integration, reducing heavy coding effort.
[Link]: We have selected Firebase and Flask. Firebase ensures real-time
database connectivity and easy integration with FlutterFlow, while Flask
provides a lightweight and flexible backend for API development.
[Link]: We are using Cloud Firestore and SQL. Cloud Firestore enables real-
time syncing and scalability, while SQL ensures reliable structured data storage.

Prototype
Solution Overview
Our solution, TrashTech, is a mobile application prototype designed to revolutionize sanitation
and waste management. It helps users locate nearby smart bins, check their status in real time,
and dispose of waste responsibly. Users can also report issues with photos, while authorities
and cleaners receive instant alerts for quick action. By combining smart bins with mobile
integration, TrashTech ensures accountability, hygiene, and environmental sustainability,
creating a cleaner and smarter community.
Technical Implementation
1) TOOLS will be used = Tools to be Used: FlutterFlow → For frontend development (fast and low-
code UI building), Firebase & Flask → For backend (real-time database + flexible API development),
Cloud Firestore & SQL → For database (real-time syncing, scalability, and reliable structured storage),
Figma → For designing UI/UX prototypes and collaborative design.
2) Key Components:-
[Link] Application (TrashTech App) User-friendly interface to locate bins check status, and earn rewards for responsible disposal.
[Link]-Time Monitoring System – IoT + database integration to notify authorities when bins are full or maintenance is required.
[Link] & Feedback Feature – Citizens can upload photos or complaints, ensuring accountability and quicker action.
5. Analytics & Recycling Integration Data-driven insights for authorities and direct linkage of segregated waste to recycling
unit
3) User Interaction:-
Open app → See nearby bins on map (empty/filled status)
Tap bin→ View last updated status.
Report issue in a bin → Upload photo.
Cleaner updates → Users notified of resolved status.
4) Data Required:-
Locate Bins – Users can find the nearest smart bins through the app.
Dispose Waste – Users follow bin indicators to correctly dispose of waste.
Report Issues – Users can upload photos or complaints about overflowing/dirty bins.
Earn Rewards – Users receive points or badges for responsible waste disposal and active
participation.
Key Features

TrashTech: Testing Strategy & User Experience
User Type 1: Public Users (Citizens) Testing Strategy: Use the TrashTech app to search
nearby smart bins, view bin status (empty/full/overflowing), and submit feedback after
disposal. Learning Objective: Check if users can easily locate bins, whether the real-time
status is accurate, and if reporting/feedback submission is smooth and useful. 1) Report
Delivery Speed - Target: 80% of issue reports should reach cleaners/admins within 30
seconds. - Improvement: Optimize server response or use push notifications if delays
exceed 30 seconds. - Feedback Collection: Track backend logs and ask users if they
experienced delays.
2) Verification of Bin Updates - Target: At least 75% of bins marked as 'cleaned/emptied'
should be verified by either a second user report or admin check. - Improvement: Add
photo proof upload by cleaners or require two confirmations before marking a bin as
'cleaned.' - Feedback Collection: Cross-check cleaner updates with admin validation and
user follow-up feedback.
User Type 2: Cleaners / Sanitation Staff Testing Strategy: Receive reports via the
dashboard, clean/empty the reported bins, and update the status after completion.
Learning Objective: Check if reports reach cleaners immediately and if updates are
properly verified.
User Type 3: Developers / Admins Testing Strategy: Monitor reports submitted by
citizens. Identify spam by checking for duplicate entries, irrelevant text, or false flags. If
only a single user reports an issue, mark it as 'unverified' until confirmed by: - A second
user report, or - Cleaner/admin field verification. Learning Objective: Ensure spam or false
reports don’t mislead cleaners and maintain data reliability.
Usability & User Experience Testing Strategy: Measure how easily users navigate the
TrashTech app to locate bins, check status, and report issues. Success Measurement:
Track user satisfaction, completion time for common actions, and collect post-use
feedback to ensure smooth and intuitive experience.
