Chapter 19
Personal Secretary
During their journey to The Grand Royale Hotel, Sarah felt a growing sense of helplessness.
Though Elliott had given her a job, she had no idea what her role truly entailed. She had
followed him out without understanding her position.
Unable to contain her curiosity any longer, she turned to him. “What exactly is my job,
Elliott?”
He spared her only a brief glance before answering, “Personal secretary. Salary: twenty
thousand dollars.”
Sarah's breath hitched. Twenty thousand dollars?
Her heart pounded as she processed the amount. She had worked at a major company
before, but her salary had never come close to that figure.
However, her excitement quickly faded. She knew the money wasn’t because of her skills or
experience—it was because of Elliott. Once again, she was dependent on him.
Elliott noticed her hesitation. His brows furrowed. “Not enough?”
She immediately shook her head. “No, it’s enough.”
Elliott noticed her hesitation. His brows furrowed. “Not enough?”
She immediately shook her head. “No, it’s enough.”
Sarah exhaled, turning her gaze to the window as the car continued its journey.
After about an hour, the car pulled up in front of The Grand Royale Hotel, one of the most
exclusive five-star hotels in the country.
She followed Elliott inside, trailing a few steps behind him as they walked through the grand
marble-floored lobby. Crystal chandeliers cast a warm glow over the polished space, and the
faint scent of expensive cologne and fresh roses lingered in the air.
They took the elevator to a private suite. Sarah stepped inside hesitantly, her eyes widening
slightly at the lavish interior. The room was massive, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering a
breathtaking view of the city skyline.
Before she could ask why they were here, there was a knock at the door.
“Sir, the things you requested have arrived,” Lucas announced from the other side.
“Bring them in,” Elliott replied, then turned to him. “Call a stylist.”
Sarah blinked. “A stylist?”
Elliott didn’t acknowledge her confusion. He simply sat on the couch, scrolling through his
phone as if she weren’t there.
Few minutes later, a stylist arrived, carrying an array of elegant gowns and accessories.
“She’s attending a banquet,” Elliott said, still not looking up. “Make sure she’s properly
styled.”
“she has a lovely frame,” the stylist commented. “I’ll make sure she looks perfect.”
Sarah was whisked away, barely given time to react as the stylist and her assistants pulled
out dresses, shoes, and accessories.
After what felt like an eternity, Sarah found herself standing in front of a large mirror, staring
at her reflection in disbelief.
She was wearing an elegant navy blue satin gown with a plunging neckline and delicate
crystal embellishments along the waist. The fabric hugged her body perfectly, accentuating
her slender figure.
Her hair had been styled into a chic updo, with soft strands framing her face, and her
makeup was flawless, warm brown eyeshadow, a touch of highlighter that made her
cheekbones stand out, and a bold red lipstick that made her lips look fuller.
She had never looked like this before. Never.
Sarah reached up, hesitantly touching her reflection.
The stylist, standing behind her, smiled warmly. “You are absolutely stunning.”
Sarah turned, slightly flustered. “T-Thank you.”
The stylist tilted her head, admiring her work. “With your features, you could easily be
mistaken for a model. It’s rare to see such natural elegance.”
Sarah’s cheeks warmed. No one had ever complimented her like that before.
Just as she was about to respond, the door suddenly swung open.
Elliott stepped inside.
Sarah turned her head, her eyes meeting his, and time seemed to stop.
Elliott froze.
For a moment, he didn’t move. His usually unreadable expression faltered, his sharp blue
eyes darkening as they roamed over her from head to toe.
His reaction made Sarah feel strangely self-conscious. She swallowed, her fingers clutching
the edge of her gown. “Is it bad?”
Elliott blinked, snapping out of whatever daze he had fallen into.
His expression turned unreadable once more as he adjusted his cufflinks. “No.”
That was all he said before turning away.
Sarah’s brows furrowed. What was that just now?
The stylist, who had been watching the exchange with amusement, leaned in slightly. “It
seems Mr. Remington approves.”
Sarah glanced at Elliott’s retreating figure, her heart pounding for reasons she couldn’t
understand.
She took a deep breath, forcing herself to focus. This was just a job.
She couldn’t afford to let anything else cloud her mind.
Especially not him.
