Procedures for consignment
• Customer plans supply
• Supplier commits to supply plan
• Customer sends call-off
• Supplier replenishes the customer’s stock
• Supplier sends invoice to customer
• Customer issues stock
• Customer pays supply
Procedures for consignment
explained;
1. Customer plans supply
• The customer plans the component
supply required for production. The
planning is based on customer’s current
inventory, the firm demand (outstanding
sales orders)and unconfirmed forecast
demand, afterwards the customer sends
the supply plan to the supplier
Cont…
2. Supplier commits to supply plan
• Supplier checks whether they can fulfill
the customer’s requirements and commits
themselves to the quantities they can
deliver according to the dates or time
schedule of the supply plan, supplier
notifies the customer of the quantities
they will deliver.
Cont…
3. Customer sends call-off
• In the purchase schedule, the
customer enters a call-off against a
committed quantities. In this
scenario, replenishment of
component stock is triggered by
purchase orders or schedules
Cont…
4. Supplier replenishes the customer’s
stock
• The supplier replenishes the
warehouse as a required. The
customer registers the receipt of
goods in the warehouse and he sends
the message inventory report to the
supplier in order to notify him
Cont…
5. Supplier sends invoice to customer
• Because the supplier owns the
components on the receipt, the
supplier invoices the customer at
regular intervals, self dealing by the
customer is another option in this
scenario
Cont…
6. Customer issues stock
• The customer issues components for
production of sales, because the customer
is responsible for warehouse
management. In this process the
inventory consumptions session, the
supplier processes the consumption
record to create an invoice line linked to
the originating sales order line
Cont…
7. The customer pays the supplier
Barcode
• Barcode; it refers to the square or rectangular image
consisting of a series of parallel black lines and white
spaces of varying width that can be read by the
scanner.
• application of barcodes
• Hospitals, for labeling medications
• Schools and universities where its attached to assets
• Financial institutions, used in banking
• Government agencies
• Advertising
Use of Barcodes
• Barcodes eliminate the possibility of human error.
The occurrence of errors of manually entered data is
significantly higher than that of the barcode. Barcode
scan is fast and reliable and it takes infinitely less
time than entering data by hands.
• Using barcode system reduces employee training
time. It takes only minutes to master the hand held
scanner for reading barcodes. Furthermore,
employees do not have to gain farmiliarility with an
entire inventory of pricing procedure. This ALSO
makes employee training less expensive since they do
not have to be paid for extra training.
Cont…
• Barcodes are inexpensive to design and print.
Generally they cost less pennies regardless of their
purpose or where they will be fixed. They can be
customized economically in a variety of finished
materials.
• They are extremely versatile. They can be used for
any kind of necessary data collection, this could
include pricing or inventory information.
• Barcodes provide better data. Since one barcode can
be used for inventory and pricing information, it is
possible to obtain data on both, and data are
immediately available because of high processing
speed of sales transaction
Cont…
• Barcodes promote better decision making. Because data
is obtained rapidly and accurately, it is possible to make
more informed decisions and decision making in turn
saves both time and money.
• Low cost implementation. Generating barcodes is quick
and easy, as is installing barcode system. Potential
savings can be realized almost immediately and this
improves accountability too.
• Inventory control. Because barcode makes it possible to
track inventory so precisely, inventory levels can be
reduced. The location of the equipment can also be
tracked reducing time spent searching for it, and the
spent replacing the equipment that’s presumed lost.
Application of barcodes in
pharmacy
Pharmaceutical manufacturers use
barcodes internally within their
warehouses for logistics, ‘track and trace’
and for eTrading including advanced
shipping notices for customers.
Pharmaceutical wholesalers use barcodes
for booking in good received, if they can
not use advanced shipping notes and to
identify and pick stock for orders
Application cont…
Primary care pharmacies use the barcode in the
Electronic Prescription Service to identify the
prescription assigned to the patient.
Primary care pharmacies also use barcodes at
the point-of-sale to insure the correct pricing
of product.
In the Hospital pharmacies, barcodes are used
for eTrading, for robotic dispensing from
automated picking machines and to facilitate
contract changes for medicine procurement.
