and social media have been linked to rising rates of anxiety, depression,
and poor sleep. Cyberbullying affects millions of children worldwide. Digital
addiction and shortened attention spans present further societal costs.
Meanwhile, the digital divide — unequal access to the internet across
regions and income groups — deepens existing inequalities. Addressing
these issues requires thoughtful regulation, digital literacy education, and
responsible design from technology companies.
