Chapter One
The red moon night
Located deep within the desert surrounded on three sides by mountains lies a deep stepwell. The
access to its entrance is well guarded by thorny bushes and trees of acacia. It is an old stepwell,
which was built almost a thousand years ago. Decorated with beautiful sculptures ranging from
human figures to strange animals and supported on thousand pillars, it is a piece of architecture
to adore. The place has been weary, scary and deserted since a long period of time. On its
entrance stood two huge sculptures of half human-half devil statues. It seems like artist has taken
these figures from reality and carved it into stones. In any case, the stepwell structure is still
intact due to its sturdy build. The well at the bottom is huge in size if one starts a comparison to
similar structures. From any point we cannot deduce that any human being could reach this
stepwell and even if there, he cannot dare to step down into its dark world. This is a full moon
night with an extraordinary large moon that shines with redness in the sky. Such a big moon has
never been seen before. It looks like the moon has been drenched into a pool of blood and
hanged into the sky. It is illuminating the valley but there is no form of light penetrating the
interior of the stepwell darkness. All the surroundings are as silent as death with no noise coming
from any direction.
A sudden screech of owl is heard breaking the silence coming from far off distant forest. After a
few minutes a faint light is seen approaching the entrance. Within a few moments, a figure
draped in red hood is seen. On close inspection we see that the light is emanating from the feet of
the figure. It is lighting up its path with clarity. Red hooded man is walking strangely on a
cushion of air. As soon as he nears thorny bushes they bends away from his path. The person is
moving comfortably above them like on a thorny carpet, the air cushion is preventing contact
between him and the vegetation. As he moved forward the vegetation regained its previous shape
blocking the path again. He reached the entrance of the stepwell without any difficulty. Just as he
neared the statutes within seconds they came to life and stepped out right in front of red hood.
“WAIT, WHO GOES THERE, ANSWER TO SAAM AND DAAM OR FACE YOUR
DEATH”, both the devil figures grunted in a thunderous voice. Simultaneously, two red spheres
were glowing in foreheads of each of them. The red hooded man stepped forward raising his
hands, from which originated two red shiny orbs and entered the foreheads of Saam and Daam
right through the red spots.
“O, fearless guardians to the city of Grandons, I Yanaclaw seek your permission to enter.” On
hearing these words the eyes of Saam and Daam turned green, they turned back and casted their
hands towards the stairs of the stepwell. The stairs split into two halves and retrenched into the
walls. A bright yellow carpeted path appeared going down towards the water in the stepwell.
Both of them then settled back in their respective positions. He swiftly walked down the carpet
stepping on air cushion. On reaching the water level, he whispered “Rise, I Yanaclaw want to
enter”. He again cast a red ray of light into the water. The water started to boil and rising towards
the brim. Holes appeared in the side walls, entire water was drained into them. A white marble
platform with an eight petal golden flower came into sight. The flower opened its petals and one
can see golden stairs going down the platform. Yanaclaw entered the platform and moved
downstairs. He soon disappeared from the view, flower closed, platform descended and well was
again filled up with water.
Yanaclaw now stands in front of a huge golden door, its magnificence cannot be described in
words, yet it was majestic and huge in size. It looked like this door cannot be opened unless a
thousand human or hundreds of beasts of burden push it open. There is a beautiful peacock
engraved right in center of the door with two big red emerald eyes shining with such light that it
seemed like daylight. On seeing him the bird flapped its wings and said in a melodious tone,
“Welcome master charmer Yanaclaw, the first person to visit Grandons after two hundred years.
The city of flying creatures and beings”. The gateway opened and Grandons city came into view.
The city has been trapped in time and looks like a medieval city with little hustle and bustle. We
will later on discuss about the beauty and strength of this city. The post curse period of two
centuries has withheld the city’s progress with time. In distant city skyline one can see there
stands a huge palace atop a hill with four towers with flag masts. He was just gazing at the palace
heights when a group of hooded men, appeared in sight. Soon they surrounded him on all sides.
All of them caught him in their magical ropes, wrapping them around his waist. It seemed as if
they were trying to churn him round in the trap. Yanaclaw raised his hands and joined them
together to gather strength. He started to spin on a single toe, the ropes started to roll around him.
Then he murmured the charm, PYHTHONOR, touched the ropes and stopped spinning. The
charm took its effects, ropes turned into magical pythons, who opened their mouth and turned
towards the rope charmers. They instantly opened their mouth and swallowed them. They then
turned towards Yanaclaw, who ordered them to spit those men out. All of them stood from the
ground with dizziness and weakness in legs. We apologize for the inconvenience caused but, we
were ordered to do this. They bowed before Yanaclaw and greeted him.
One of them raised his head and said, “Welcome, master Yanaclaw, the city in charge magicia
Charles Winford is waiting for you. The messenger orbs informed him about your arrival.” They
immediately escorted him towards the palace. Winding their way down through the wide and
neatly paved streets of Grandons and soon came to the palace doors.
Palace was more magnificent and splendid from near as compared to distant view. It was made
up of metal shining like gold, but far superior and impregnable in its comparison. The door was
decorated with flowers, animals and birds. On arrival of a visitor the flowers bloomed, showing
colorful gems hidden inside them. Animals raised their heads and danced on their legs. Birds’
started to sing in a beautiful voice. One of the men stepped forward and patted one of the bird on
his head while pressing the feathers. In a while the entire show stopped and door opened widely.
Yanaclaw was escorted into a room and asked to sit while the city head arrived.
Yanaclaw made himself comfortable in this huge room, the walls of which are equal in length
and breadth. The walls are decorated with pictures of great warriors and magicia of the Magibor
clan. One of the walls was entirely covered with an epic battle scene, which Yanaclaw was
watching attentively. He muttered a charm “ALIVOR” the picture instantly turned into a live
battle scene. The two armies were draped in Green and Red were facing each other standing at a
considerable distance. Green army raised their standard and soon their soldiers turned left and
started to march towards the nearby river of blood. Yanaclaw’s face was turning red with anger;
when suddenly he heard the words “REVERSOR”. The picture turned itself into its previous still
form. Charles Winford has entered the room and restored the picture. He welcomed Yanaclaw
and gave tight hug. He said “It has been a long time since we have met but this wound is still
fresh in our hearts.”
Charles Winford continued in sad and angry tone “All of us cannot forget this battle, which has
changed our fate and the reason why we are in hiding for past two centuries.” It was fierce and
decisive battle between Magibor and Supalian clan on the banks of the blood river. The two
armies of magicia practitioners clashed for forty days. There were huge losses on both sides, but
finally a fatal lightning bolt struck, Hazrobell the leader of the magibor. He went unconscious
and trapped into a diamond coffin. It was Yanaclaw who put his life in the line of danger and
carried the coffin to Karagong the city of knowledge. Magibor lost the battle, but their leader was
trapped between life and death.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, Yanaclaw. I was preparing to meet you after such a long time. I can
see that you and I both are now free to move out of our cities. Supalians have locked our cities
through their powerful magic. At last the full moon light has broken that charm as per the law of
dark magic. This red moon which shines today increased our powers to such an extent that all
curse upon our cities were weakened.”
“All magibors are now awakened and have left their dwelling cities to reach Karagong. Our
astrologers have calculated precisely when the right star formation will be in place”, Yanaclaw
said with decisiveness.
“What do you think will happen, will it be a success?” Charles asked to assure him of the
outcome. He has been waiting for this moment for past two centuries. Now on meeting
Yanaclaw he can deduce that the days of glory for magibors will be back.
“The effects of natural phenomena cannot be denied or changed by any force. These events are
sure to happen and this time we will reign superior over our enemies, Yanaclaw said with a
confident tone. His face although does not depicted the same confidence. The reason for his lack
of surety was displayed when he said, “Charles there are several other important things which
needs to be discussed regarding magibor future. We will have to first reach Karagong, then only
we can continue further.” Charles asked for some time to prepare for the journey and arrange for
some of his men. He made necessary preparations for the city in his absence with increased
security. After an hour Charles returned back, dressed in a tight red robe accompanied by three
of his best men. Yanaclaw was waiting impatiently while trying to concentrate his powers and
practicing charms. He was trying to build a pair of fire dragons with red and white fire attack.
Charles did not interrupted him and watched the effect with aw and spire when the two dragons
rose up in the air. “You have increased your powers amazingly, during these years master” he
commented in a tone of excitement. “Yes, I was not sitting idle, waiting for the right time” he
declared with anger in his eyes. He stretched his palms and the two dragons turned to smoke and
disappeared. This is just a glimpse of my newly gained knowledge, in time you will see more of
such powerful magic.
Charles also tried to showcase some of his gains, by creating a powerful magical charm, which
was effective in lifting an entire mountain from its place, seen in the distant from the palace
tower. He then pressed his hands together to break it into small pebbles and dust. Yanaclaw was
impressed on seeing such a display of power. “This is just awesome and as expected from all
magibors to increase their magic”, he said with joy.
Magibors have been sent into isolation and confined in to their eight fortress like cities. Still their
self sustained cities were capable of keeping them going. All of their activities related to
learning, growth and developing stronger magic with accompanied materials kept on
progressing. All of the eight hidden and well protected cities have their own unique abilities
which provided specializing in different arts and forms of magic. These two centuries has
provided them with power through grief and anger, to resurrect their leader against enemy
Supalians.
Yanaclaw looked towards Charles and his men. All of them took the oath that they will do
anything to restore the glory of Magibors. He made a brief yet motivational speech to boost their
spirits “This determination will lead us onto a difficult path to success. We all will stay together
to achieve our goal.”
Master I, have been eagerly awaiting the time when the time for revenge comes. I have lost my
three generations in that war including my dear son, who was one of the fiercest warriors
amongst our clan. But alas he is now no more, his sacrifice hurts me even today. That horrible
day haunts me of my inability to fight like a lion those deceptive Supalians. Charles was almost
lost in the memories of his family members.
Not you but all of us has lost so much in the battle that it cannot be reclaimed back anymore. Our
leader, skills, our sacred books of knowledge and much more. The time has arrived to recollect
as much as we can and dig out the culprit Supalians to pay the price. Hail to the great Magibor
clan, we will rise and rule the world again, said Yanaclaw to console Charles.
They left for Karagong city without any further delay.
