Reflection Task 1

1. I managed people while working at PwC. The individuals reporting to me were fresh out
of college, primarily young accounting interns. On average, three employees reported to
me over an eighteen-month period.
2. I hope to better understand how to manage larger groups of employees, taking into
account both seniority and cultural differences. In my view, one can manage through
authority of expertise, but a strong manager can lead a team that includes employees
who are more senior or more skilled. In this class, I hope to acquire tools that will help
me understand what management is and what it should look like.
3. What makes a person who can think outside the box unique or valuable is the fact that
others cannot do the same. If too many people think outside the box, it is more likely
that the "box" has been defined in a flawed way rather than that they are all unique,
because a way of thinking is, by definition, not unique if many people can follow it.
