 Caution

This integration is deprecated as of SAP CC 2021 FPS 0 and SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2102. For
more information, refer to the administration guides of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

Getting Started Guide

SAP BRIM Solutions PUBLIC 11
SAP Convergent Charging was part of integrated SAP Solutions named SAP Billing and Revenue Innovation
Management (BRIM) based on SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

Always refer to the integration guides [page 16].

In an integrated SAP Solution scenario, SAP Convergent Charging (SAP CC) can be interfaced and integrated
with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

 Remember

Depending on the solution scenario that is implemented in your SAP system landscape, the SAP S/4HANA
Cloud Public Edition system is deployed and connected to the SAP CC system. For the first integration, you
need the version SAP CC 5.0 SP 5 or a higher release.

In an integrated scenario with an order management system, SAP Convergent Charging (SAP CC), Convergent
Invoicing (in S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition) , and Receivables Management and Payment Handling (aka
Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable):

• Convergent Invoicing (in S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition) enables service providers to consolidate charges
from one or more sources into a single invoice. The consolidated invoice may include charges from third
parties. Provider companies thus have a complete view of the end customer. They can see which party
is responsible for any given charge. Convergent Invoicing enables providers to simplify and automate
complex billing processes, making it easier to implement and monetize innovative services.
• Receivables Management and Payment Handling (aka Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable) receives
and manages large posting volumes, for example, created by billing processes, and uploads these postings
to the general ledger.
The software has been tailored towards the requirements of corporates across all industries and lines of
business with high volumes of end customers, subscriptions, and pay-per-use transactions. The processes
provided with Receivables Management and Payment Handling are highly flexible to allow for a maximum
of automation, as well as ensuring outstanding system performance and scalability.
The collection process fully automates routine tasks such as the calculation of interest payments.

• SAP Convergent Charging (SAP CC) creates billable items for services that are used and transfers
these items for further processing to Convergent Invoicing in the S/4HANA Cloud system. The basis
for the creation of billable items are sets of rules stored in SAP CC that specify pricing and account
assignment, in combination with end-customer data and product data that SAP CC replicates from the
order management system.
The billable items contain the price to be paid for the usage of a service, along with information on the
account to which receivables or payables are to be posted.
• Convergent Invoicing (in the S/4HANA Cloud system) receives billable items from SAP Convergent
Charging, creates invoices and credit memos from them, posts the receivables or payables in "Receivables
Management and Payment Handling" (aka Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable), and manages
these receivables and payables until they are cleared.
Billable items contain information on the business partner and the account – contract account in postpaid
scenarios or allowance in prepaid scenarios – to which "Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable" posts
the receivables or payables, and with which you can track the prepaid usages of your end customers.

To enable this transactional flow (business accounting operations), some master data for the end customers
must be configured and distributed in the systems.

In this SAP Solution, the master data objects are the:

• Business partner

• Contract account
• Provider contract
• Product

The order management system is the leading system with regard to master data. But Contract Accounts
Receivable and Payable (in the S/4HANA Cloud system) replicates the master data to the SAP CC system:

1. The business partner is distributed to SAP Convergent Charging as a subscriber account.

2. The contract account is distributed to SAP Convergent Charging as an external account (aka postpaid
account). It is part of a subscriber account.
3. The provider contract is distributed to SAP Convergent Charging as a provider contract (aka charging
contract).

• External Account
• Provider Contract, which is a pricing and charging view
