1. Kay Stepkin, US banker, once said: “Work is an essential part of being alive.

Your work is your identity.” Agree or disagree with the statement, provide the
necessary arguments to prove your point of view.

To start with, I would say “I both agree and disagree with this statement” but I was
outraged by this expression. I believe that job is really important for our daily lives. It
is not only necessary for providing financial means but also for our identity and
belonging to social life. But from my point of view, our jobs can’t define who we are
in our lives.
First of all, I must admit that a lot of people associate particular professions with
particular types of nature. For an instant, artists are free and creasy, lawyers are strict
and pedantic, and translators are very talkative and scrupulous. But I think that there
are so many jobs and so many people with their character that the preservation of
these stereotypes is rather stupid and not progressive.
When I think of the expression “your profession is your personality” as a whole I feel
confused cause as we can see there are masses of people who can’t find themselves in
any particular job. So, we don’t consider them to be anybody, do we? I strongly
believe that whether you work as a cashier in a local store or as a designer for a
world-known company it doesn't define who are you. I’m convinced that there are
millions of ways to identify yourself even if you are not in love with your job or if
you haven’t found your place on this earth yet. Despite your career, you could also be
known as a great cook or a wonderful mother. It doesn’t matter who you are by your
profession unless you take your values to the masses as a part of your identity.
So, finally, I believe that there are a lot of people who find themselves in their work
but we should not define who we are by judging only by our professions.
2. You will graduate from university in two or three years. What do you know
about the trends of the present day labour market? What professional skills and
personal features do you think today’s students need to develop to build a
successful career?
In today’s fast-moving world most of us trying to succeed in any possible way
now. That is why I consider the expression ‘a successful person to look different for
every one of us. Despite this, regardless of our perception of success, there are still
certain skills that everyone should have to succeed.
As a young person, I believe that one of the most important skills in the
employment market is critical thinking. Critical thinking skills are valuable in all
roles in an organization. These skills enhance (покращують) communication,
creativity, and problem-solving. Thinking critically in the workplace allows you to
connect ideas, evaluate arguments, find errors and solve complex issues.
It’s quite clear that people are sensual and emotional human beings and their fortitude
can be not enough to get to the end. Self-doubts can defeat us, but we must focus and
push ourselves physically and mentally. Frankly speaking, it is hard for me,
especially when I feel like a squeezed lemon. Nevertheless, I know that lying on the
sofa doesn't help me to be successful.
In addition, adaptability and serving value are also important. The more
adaptable you are, the better suited you'll be for a leadership role. More adaptable
leaders tend to show a greater ability to motivate, inspire and lead teams, and more
easily earn the respect of co-workers. Moreover, you can't sell yourself as a slave, but
you always can sell your capability and skills. Therefore we should make our
knowledge to be appreciated. As far as I’m able to judge, knowledge without ideas is
just like a borsch without meat. Your creativity also decides. More adaptable leaders
tend to show a greater ability to motivate, inspire and lead teams, and more easily
earn the respect of co-workers.
And, of course, the keystone (основа основ) is to be in love with your work
because only such people go through all the pitfalls and become successful and as a
result provide for themselves.

All in all, I think that only a person who believes in herself and is ready for a
huge amount of daunting tasks can take up the position of her dreams and move up
the ladder.
3. You are participating in an international student’s “Gender Equality”
workshop. Express your opinion whether there are purely male and female
occupations. Talk about the stereotypes spread in our society and say whether
they are justified. Support your opinion with the arguments.

Unfortunately, we live in a society where people judge each other by their

nationality, race, skin color, and even gender. The last one usually happens when
employers hire someone for a position. To tell the truth, this disappoints me that
living in the 21st-century people are met by clothes. In today's realities, I want to
point everyone's attention to the gender problem.

Very often women, as well as men, are underestimated in the labor market
depending on the position they apply for. Why women are reluctant to be accepted
for the position of engineers and men are ridiculed (висміяний) when they are
passionate about dancing?

There are still a lot of stereotypes about the role of women in the family. Many
people believe that she should stay at home, take care of the children, cook, and do
the laundry. And men, in turn, should always work at a purely male job to provide
money for the family.

That’s nonsense. Nowadays, everyone has the right to choose what they like
and they should not think about what their neighbor or their father's godmother will
say about them. Because people should not care about it.

I believe that we need to get rid of the stereotypes of the Soviet Union and
finally accept that a woman can and has the right to carve a niche as an engineer in
NATO, while her husband does make-up for celebrities.

In today's society, every employer must create such working conditions to cater
to the needs of everyone. And people, in turn, should take risks and follow their
dreams and not think about how they look in the eyes of others. As the saying goes,
nothing venture, nothing have.
4. According to the Bureau of Labour Statistics, intercity bus and truck drivers
had the highest rate of injuries and illnesses of all occupations measured in 2020.
They face long hours behind the wheel, often breathing in exhaust fumes or
eating unhealthy fast food. This occupation requires vigilance to avoid accidents
and keep passengers safe, which can stress the system. Name two other
professions that you think are most harmful for health and two occupations
which are good for health. Give strong arguments in support of your opinion.

There are a bunch of different professions that are harmful to our health, nervous
system, and sometimes even lives. And as far as I’m concerned, these jobs are well-
paid.

So, the first job that is harmful to the employee is pilot. I venture that this is indeed
one of the most harmful professions that spoils health gradually.

Firstly, pilots sleep very little and spend many hours on flights, which harms the
nervous system and heart. Secondly, everyone knows that pilots have a high risk of
getting cancer because they fly high in the sky and close to the sun. It is impossible
not to mention the fact that the air in the plane is not healthy either, it is full of toxic
agents. In general, this profession is extremely harmful to health, but pilots are head
over heels in love with their work and they go great guns. But as it is said, nothing
venture, nothing have.

And the second profession that, in my opinion, is dangerous to health is a vet. Yes,
that’s okay when you deal with cute little dogs or cats. But just imagine dealing with
rats or snakes. That’s quite risky, I guess.

And what about occupations that are good for our health? I think, there are a lot of
them. It’s really hard for me to narrow the list down to just two occupations. For
instance, a yoga instructor. This is a great way to combine business with pleasure. In
addition, Teaching meditation, relaxation, and yoga poses will help your mind and
body be in the healthiest state possible. Not only will you improve flexibility and
build core strength, but you will also rid your mind of any negativity.

And I guess florist is also a charming profession that has a good effect on your health.
Florists spend their time taking care of plants, trees, and flowers. Working with
nature instead of dealing with fussy colleagues is a much healthier lifestyle, which
offers little to no stress.
5. Today, almost anyone can be famous. Fame is no longer a reward for gallant
service or great selfless endeavor. It is an end in itself. Is ‘being a celebrity’
really a profession? Why do millions on young people are ready to risk their
lives climbing the roof of moving trains to make an eye-catching selfy? What are
the pros and cons of being famous?

The question that bothers me all the time is ‘What fame is?’ Why do people want to
become famous? There are two sides to the medal. On the one hand, some people are
eager to become famous only to earn money and to be recognized. They just set
themselves an ideal and follow them usually forgetting about their identity and
uniqueness.
But on the other hand, some people want to be famous just to change this world for
the better. Such as influencers and people who help the needy, and the poor. People
who carry the ideology of improving the world to the masses and in this way direct
their fame to good and merciful deeds and benefit society. Such people do not seek
profit from their popularity.
As I mentioned before one of the advantages of becoming a famous person is to have
money so that you can provide for yourself. In addition, local and international
recognition is also a pleasant thing. You can safely say there’s almost nothing like a
“closed door” for a celebrity. When a person becomes renowned, many various
chances open up, whether they are career-related or not.
But usually, people do not think about the other side of the medal. You have no
privacy at all. Whether you like o tot not, even the smallest detail about yourself,
your family, or your love life will be the talk of the town. People can say unpleasant
things about you on practically any occasion, even if it doesn’t seem like a huge
concern at the moment. This may have varying effects on your life, family, or future.
And, of course, whether you like it or not, but there is a popular opinion that a
famous person just can’t make a mistake. Celebrities may desire to do a lot of things
to feel free and careless, but they prefer to keep a clean image to protect their
reputation and status as artists.
So, all in all, I don’t consider fame to be the best thing in a person’s life at all. It is
rather a burden with sequins that must be carried with you at all times.
6. You are participating in an international student’s “Professions and
Occupations of the 21st Century” workshop. Speak to the participants of the
workshop about the profession you would never take up. Support your position
with the appropriate arguments. Enumerate the factors which you consider
when choosing a job.

To be honest, there are a lot of professions that I would like to try myself, but there
are also a lot of professions that do not attract me at all.

For instance, the profession of a maths teacher. This is my nightmare! If you

would like to find a person who does not like maths, you came to the right shop. I
understand it, but to connect my life with this science seems to be something
extraordinary for me. From my point of view, it is very difficult to instill in people a
love for such a subject, especially for pupils who do not want to learn anything new.

In addition, I think I will never choose some dangerous from a physical point of view
professions, such as a miner or a truck driver. Moreover, despite of harmful effects on
people's bodies and the heaviness and danger of these jobs, they often are low-paid,
so they are not worth it.

If we talk about the criteria that guided me in choosing my future profession, it

is first of all my interest in this field. Because when you love what you do, you are
not afraid to make a bad break as you understand that it is your experience that
improves every day. It is so easy to give up as soon as you come to grieve, but people
who continue to work despite the opinion of others and sometimes even lack of
experience motivate me like no other.

And of course, it is important to choose a profession with career progression as each

of us wants to move up the ladder to stay the course and get a dEcent salary for our
work.
7. Some school leavers and college graduates say they face difficulties
when looking for their first job. They say that a job interview is a dreadful
ordeal for them. Give a piece of advice to your peers concerning the most
efficient ways of job hunting and making a successful job interview.

In today’s fast-moving world most of us feel like newborn baby, who was given a
spoon with no instructions on what to do with it. We don’t know what to do with our
future and deal with those thoughts in the present. Although almost everybody is
trying to succeed in any possible way now, job hunting is the most widely played
sport among younger. I also have such experience, so now can give some advice.
First of all, do not be afraid just in order not to make a poor show. The employer
won’t bite you, he wants to know all the positive and negative sides of the future
employee. Therefore, it may look like he is very picky.
The second and most important thing is to behave confidently. Yes, maybe you have
no experience and it is your first interview with an evil man or a sweet woman. Or
you will work in such a position for the first time. But if you were invited for an
interview, it means that they liked your CV and have some hopes about your abilities
to meet their requirements.
The third thing is a good appearance. No wonder people say that they meet by
clothes. The interview is the first acquaintance that is remembered forever. And the
employee should remember that you came in clean shoes, in a washed and ironed
shirt with clean hair.
And last but not least piece of advice don’t ask about salary yourself, the employer
has to think you came for the experience, people, and good opportunities. All already
know that people are interested in money. In addition, you can be confident that if
you are good at something it will pay off.
Summing up, the way to success is like climbing Everest. Almost every person wants
to go to the top. Few of them have enough passion to begin. To begin and come to the
interview.
So don’t be afraid of getting to the first station on the way to the top, be confident and
of course, don’t forget to clean your shoes so that they shine like a new penny.
8. Statistics shows that good-looking people earn 10-15% more than
plain-looking people in the same job, so it makes sense that some people
want to get cosmetic surgery to improve their appearance. Do you agree
that risking one’s health is worth the benefit? Consider the risks which
people take when try to improve their looks with the help of a surgeon.

The first phrase that comes into my head is ‘beauty requires sacrifice’. In this case,
one wants to rephrase it to "work requires sacrifice".
First of all, I would like to remember our grandparents who did not do any
plastic surgery and still live peacefully. Unlike the stars, who often change something
in their appearance, which usually causes problems. Each person and each organism
are individual, so no one can predict how one or the other will react in 10 years to
Botox for the face, for example. Yes, maybe now it will help to get a 10% higher
salary or just make a big hit, but the consequences can be much worse. But usually,
such people are guided by the expression ‘make or break’. In such cases, you just
want to shout at these people for them to come back to earth.
It is not worth mentioning that cosmetic surgery costs a fortune. To look
perfect, you need to invest an obscene amount of money. So to earn 1-2 thousand
more you must spend 10 or even 20 times more. But I don’t consider it to be a
reasonable investigation. And, as you know, there is no limit to perfection. And you
always want more and more. Therefore, every time the costs will only increase if we
are talking about the appearance. We should not forget that the body ages, and so do
the face. And like it or not, you still have to "update".
Summing up, cosmetic surgery should not be done to get a bigger salary. I
believe that clean and styled hair, fresh makeup, and healthy teeth are the key to a
good appearance otherwise I don't know what this world is going to be.
9. Stars of high profile sports such as football, golf, tennis, boxing and
motor racing often feature in lists of the world’s richest people. In recent
years the amount of money earned by top sportsmen and sportswomen
has risen to incredible figures. There are more and more media start to
argue that the athletes deserve their earnings. Do you think the effort of
sport stars are worth the value?

Actually, I hesitate to answer this question.

On the one hand, there’s no question that professional athletes are paid too much.
And to tell the truth, I don’t understand why. I strongly believe that someone who
tosses a ball shouldn’t earn 700 times as much as someone who saves lives. Of
course, athletes make their country famous all over the world and represent it at
world competitions and Olympiads, but I do not agree that people who risk their lives
every day get paid much less than professional athletes. Selling a face and risking it
are different things for me
On the other side, it’s not the athletes’ fault that their wages are so high. The main
problem is the huge amount of money involved in professional sports. Team owners
and the three big leagues rake in billions of dollars a year.
But people usually think that sportsmen make an omelet without breaking eggs. In
fact, professional athletes also put in years of hard work and deserve every penny
they earn. I think the truth is, some professional athletes make huge salaries because
millions of people are happy to pay money to see those players make amazing
catches and breathtaking plays.
So if a person thinks professional athletes make too much money, maybe he or she
just should stop watching them. And what about people who risk their lives, I think it
is logical to raise their salaries.
10. During your internship in England you’ve been taking a strong medicine
to treat one of your health problems which had a number of side effects on your
body. Talk to your English doctor, complain and describe the problems in detail.

Health is the most valuable thing in our life, I realized this well during my internship
in England. It is a necessity to consult a doctor regularly, but I didn't follow this and
I paid for it.
I've been sick for a week now. I can't enjoy the beauty of London because of my
illness. My friends in the new city advise me to go to the doctor, so I made an
appointment. I had problems with hair loss, drowsiness, and skin problems. The
doctor examined me and suggested to have my analyses made-ups. The results
showed that I had a lack of vitamins in my body and I have been prescribed some
medications for vitamin deficiency.
At first, everything was fine, but then I saw the side effects on my body. I got even
more rashes and nausea. Sometimes I had a temperature and I could do nothing about
this. It felt very seedy. Sleepless nights, doctors' appointments, and lots of medicines
and drops are made a great influence on my immune system.
Later, my friends advised me one private clinic and I decided to try this option. The
professionalism of the doctors there was high. I was fully examined and prescribed
more medicines that I hoped would help. But, here we go again, one drug caused a
headache. It was throbbing, but not very strong, and still, this problem needs to be
solved somehow.
First, I need to determine what I am allergic to, and then start a new treatment. I
know that many medical centers in England can solve such problems, so this will not
be a problem. Almost every third person is allergic to some foods or drugs, so this is
familiar to every doctor. The right attitude to my health and the visit to the doctor in
time will solve the following problems. With the development of modern medicine,
many diseases can be cured. So a week later I went to the doctor again, but I was
already feeling better. Now I could walk the streets of London with my friends and
enjoy wonderful days.
11. You are the member of the ‘Students for Health’ group. Give a talk to
your group-mates about the healthy way of life; recommend them some healthy
habits which will reduce their vulnerability to stress and disease.

Nowadays, people live in a fast-moving world and it often does not give us any time
for eating, sleeping, let alone cooking something. The vast majority of us submit and
consume junk food that is high in calories but lacking in nutrition. However all these
factors depend on a person's lifestyle, a couch potato or a healthy one is only your
choice.
A healthy lifestyle for me is not only about keeping a diet, and consulting a doctor
regularly, but also about a positive vibe and view of our world, especially in such
conditions. It is also about how active you are and your sports habits. In addition to
distracting, sports also harden (загартовують) the body.
To provide a healthy lifestyle you must keep your body in shape, do exercises
regularly, take care of your health and skin, and get the proper balance of all
nutrients.
Of course, to be healthy we also should boost our immune system to not fall ill.
Enough sleep and a reasonable combination of work and rest are also important. Try
to eat in moderation, because overeating badly affects a digestive system.
Following this, we should have regular meals three times a day and no tempting food,
which can interrupt sleeping and store in our body as fat, but consume vegetables,
whole grains, and fish, which boost our immune system and bring signifying health
benefits.
To sum up, everyone has their own idea of a healthy lifestyle, but I consider it to be a
set of interdependent elements including diet, supporting the immune system, taking
care of health, sleeping, resting, doing exercises, and an optimistic view of life.

12. As an activist of the ‘Students for Health’ movement give a talk to your
group-mates about the harm of smoking, drinking alcohol and taking drugs.
Our health directly depends on our lifestyle and the habits we have. Someone goes to
the gym, someone does yoga, and someone eats only healthy food. Sometimes you
meet people and do not even understand how they can not eat hamburgers and drink
Coke. Since childhood, everyone is taught that smoking, drinking alcohol and drugs
are not allowed. This is all addiction, which is very difficult to fight and understand
the harm.
I believe that the worst thing in life is to be addicted. If we talk about smoking, it
causes lung cancer, and everyone knows about it, but for some reason, there are still a
huge amount of smokers on the streets. Even if a person does not smoke, it is still
easy to distinguish him from others. They have bad breath and yellow teeth and a dry
persistent cough. The worst thing is that a lot of such people are young. I rarely see
older people. Maybe it is the matter with this addiction. About 3 million people die
every year from cigarettes. Once addicted to tobacco smoking, it is very difficult for a
person to give up this bad habit.
We can talk about alcohol and drugs for a long time, but, unfortunately, people who
abuse them do not like to talk about it or live a long life. The influence and adverse
side effects of these drugs vary according to the user’s physiology and personality
traits. Young guys and girls probably try these things out of curiosity. What a pity
that they do not think about what will happen in a day or a year. But, of course,
everyone lives "now" at the moment, not thinking that this moment can be enough to
destroy all their life. It sounds awful, but if you want to try drugs or alcohol, try to
imagine yourself in a few years. But imagine yourself not as someone who got over
an addiction, but one who could not get rid of a bad habit.
In its turn, Alcohol can cause aggression. In a state of intoxication, a person
endangers not only himself but also others, as it is very difficult to control his actions
and deeds under the influence of alcohol.
Whatever the bad habits are, you need to get rid of them, motivate yourself, and
strengthen your willpower. This is one of the stages of improvement of the human
soul and its spiritual and moral development.

13. As part of the ‘Students for Health’ initiative, give your group-mates
a speech about AIDS and give recommendations as to how to avoid being
infected.
AIDS affects mainly the immune system of the body. AIDS infection destroys the
immune system but has no external manifestations. AIDS is a stage of the disease
when the human body no longer has the resources to resist various diseases. They
progress, resulting in death. This infection is transmitted in three ways: through
blood, secretions, and secretory fluids.
What to do in order not to get infected? You should use condoms properly, refrain
from sexual contact with unfamiliar partners, and, having a regular partner, remain
faithful, use disposable syringes СІРІНДЖЕС and sterile СТЕРІЛ instruments in
medical institutions, hairdressers, cosmetic offices and salons.
It is important to remember that any piercing or cutting instrument that you use
during medical procedures, tattooing, piercing, piercing of ears and other parts of the
body, shaving, pedicure, and manicure must be sterile.
And one more thing every woman should know is to prevent the transmission of the
disease from the HIV-infected mother to the child during pregnancy, it is necessary to
carry out antiretroviral treatment of the mother, at the time of childbirth to appoint a
cesarean section, after the birth of the child instead of breastfeeding to use artificial
feeding.
So everyone should follow these simple rules to save their precious life and
remember that AIDS is not doom, people live with it. a lack of understanding of what
it's like to live with HIV, and unfair assumptions and judgments made about people
who get HIV cause misconceptions and stereotypes.

14. You are a member of the international students’ tourist club. You are
planning a hiking week-end. Talk to your group-mates about the most common
injuries people get in the woods or mountains. Remind them of how to give the
first aid and tell what they must have in their medical cabinet.
The first thought when it comes to hiking injuries is of course ‘prevention.’ Injuries
are an unfortunate inevitability of hiking. It’s therefore important to not only know
how to prevent them but also how to treat them.
Actually, you can safely go hiking without a doctor. The main thing is to take a
properly equipped first aid kit and a person who knows how to provide first aid.
The most common injuries are poisoning, snake bites, dislocations and sprains, and
sunstrokes.
Prevention during the hiking is very easy: do not eat unfamiliar mushrooms and
berries, or food left over from previous cooking.
Snake bites are dangerous. A snake-bitten person should not be allowed to move.
You should make him lie down. Put an improvised splint (шина) on the affected
limb (постраждала кінцівка) to immobilize it. In no case do not allow the
"patient" to sit, get up and walk - the poison must spread more slowly through the
body. It is very important to take the person on a stretcher (носилки) to the nearest
hospital as soon as possible.
If you are completely sure that your patient has only a sprain or dislocation, then it is
enough to apply an elastic bandage (еластичний бинт) or a pressure bandage
(пов’язка) to the joint. You can also apply something cold.
Prevention of this is simple: good hiking boots with sturdy ankle support and taking
care and caution when placing your feet on uneven ground.

In summer, it is very easy to get heat or sunstroke in nature. Due to overheating, a

person can faint. The one who overheated in the sun should be brought to the cool, in
the shade. Wipe the face with a handkerchief dipped in cold water. When the person
comes round and can sit - give him a drink of cool water.
When hiking, everyone should have a first aid kit. It must contain elastic bandages,
cotton wool, peroxide, adhesive (едхІсів) plasters, and allergy pills.
Remember that underestimating nature and natural forces can not only be a costly
mistake but your last one. “Pray for the best; prepare for the worst” as the old saying
goes. It is your preparedness and quick reaction that might make the difference
between life and death when you need to handle an emergency. So, be prepared.

15. When the BBC asked its viewers what one thing they’d like to do before
they die, many responses mentioned such extreme activities as bungee jumping,
husky dog sledging and wing walking. Express your attitude to the extreme
sports. Why do you think so many people are prepared to risk their health or
even life for a portion of adrenaline?
Extreme sports always attracted my attention, they are risky and engaged you to be
brave, despite people considering them to be senseless and dangerous to health. The
vast majority of people think that these sports are for professional or headless people
who are kin on the extreme, but I think it to be a great opportunity to spill out a lot of
emotions.

As mentioned before I like extreme sports and would like to try bungee jumping,
hang gliding, or sky diving. First of all, it is very interesting and has a sense of
magnetism for me. In addition, prevention and a well-educated couch ensure your
safety, so there is no reason to be afraid of injuries or even death. Of course, no one is
safe from accidents, but it is only an emergence, not regularity.

I consider that people who go in for extreme activities, don’t think about the harmful
effect on their health, first of all, they want to get an explosion of vivid emotions. It is
a step aside from daily routine and you can be under the impression of it for weeks.
To my mind, people also attract a sense of freedom, a feeling of themselves as a king
of the world at the top of Everest. You get the feeling that you can do anything, and it
can really motivate people and even save them from burnout. A sense of challenge to
the world around us contributes to gaining self-confidence. Overcoming your fears
and complexes also works for the same purpose. It is also important that extreme
sports provide an opportunity to release negative emotions, which accumulated over a
long time walking through problems, life challenges, and gray daily routines.

Summing up, if you wanna try one of the extreme sports, first of all, realize why you
want to do that. Only after that, you will have a chance to get out of this opportunity
in full. Perceive the rest in this case as an explosion of vivid emotions, which will
motivate you.

16. The BBC is planning a series of TV programmes about 10 greatest

sportsmen and women of all times. Which sports person would you nominate to
be included in the series? Talk about this person’s achievements rather than
his/her biography, prove that he/she must be included.

Ukrainian lands are full of gifted and capable people with great goals and great
stories. So if I would have a chance to choose a person to be included in the series
about the 10 greatest sportsmen and women of all time, I would definitely choose
Lilia Podcopayeva, one of the most successful women in gymnastics. Absolute
Olympic champion in gymnastics, the absolute champion of the world, and the
absolute champion of Europe are the greatest sports titles, all of which she could
collect in her hands.

The world-class gymnastics go through a lot of training and early wake-ups to be

who she is now. At the age of ten, she set her first record by pulling herself up 33
times. Can you imagine what the straights and motivation are needed to do it? She
mounts the rostrum of victory after her first international competition at the age of 18.
I think that after that she understood why she went in for gymnastics.

Of course, Lilia had a lot of doubts and mistakes but every time she stands up. She
set a new record when made a double forward flip with a 180-degree turn. So far no
one in the world has been able to perform it, even men.

Ukrainian gymnast Lilia Podcopayeva finished her career as the absolute world
champion in light gymnastics never losing her title. She always believes in life, you
need to prove that you are a person, and you are strong! Nothing comes easy! And
just like that, nothing will fall from the sky. It is necessary to overcome fears, pain,
and laziness!

To recapitulate, I consider Lilia Podcopayeva to be an excellent person to open first

place in the series about the 10 greatest sportsmen and women of all time. Her
abilities and achievements make her worthy of this list. I do think that belief in
yourself, and being keen on what you go in for can easily lead you to the top of
world-class professionals.

17. Are you athletic or are you a couch potato? Have you ever practiced
sports? Speak to your group-mates about the benefits that youngsters can get
from physical exercise. Tell them about your favourite kind of sport,
recommend a kind of activities to take up.

I consider sport to be an essential part of our life. Everyone does sport or a least some
kind of exercise to one degree or another in their life. Especially, when it comes to
the benefits of being physically active. For one, I used to go in for volleyball and
basketball and even set one record in my school.

In my school days, I used to take part in various track-and-field events, where I often
competed with others children from all over our region for medals. Such activities as
400 and 200 m races and long jumps appealed to me, so I was very keen on sports in
that days. But all the same, I would rather recommend you to take up team types of
sport such as soccer, volleyball, and water-polo and so on. They not only keep your
body and mind in shape but also raise your emotional state thanks to team spirit.

If you are not obsessed with a sport I can point out several benefits, which can easily
convince you. It is not only a good choice for a pastime but also very important for
our bodies and minds. Strengthening our bones, lowering cholesterol, and decreasing
the risk of stroke, high blood pressure, and diabetes are only several benefits of doing
sport. Regular exercises can also help you in sharpening your focus and improve your
mood and memory. Besides, as I mentioned before, you must remember that sports
on a team go beyond exercising alone. Communal experience strengthening for a
common goal is to improve your confidence and mindset and reduce the risk of
suffering from depression for up to four years.

All things considered, people would rather describe as an athlete, not one with a
coach-potato lifestyle. To my mind, sport is a really good ability to develop not only
our body strength but also our mind. Your confidence in doing something well with
every next lesson improves your confidence in your abilities in general and leads to
success in physical, mental health, and career.

18. You are a member of the international students’ sports and leisure club.
Consider the options of introducing some newly developed sporting activities or
sport games like netball, chess-boxing, etc. Explain the rules of at least three
activities, its pros and cons for the young people, tell what kind of equipment
and outfit that the sport centre will have to buy.

In today’s fast-moving world there are a lot of various sports activities and games.
Every day a new one appears in the world of sports such as netball, chess-boxing, and
earthing. Some of them are really rare phenomena others become world popular, with
a lot of fans all over the planet.

Netball is a type of basketball, where a ball is thrown into the opponent's basket.
Traditionally it is a women's sport played by 12 players. The basket in netball is
called a goal, placed at a height of 3.05 meters. The ball is passed along the court
from player to player, and players must touch the ball in each third of the field, i.e.
the ball cannot be thrown from the defensive zone to the offensive zone. This sport
develops intelligence, reaction, and cunning, so is good to play for youngsters. In
addition to it, the team has to have only a high basket and a leather ball.

For me, chess-boxing is a very ridiculous kind of sport that was developed not for
training muscles and mind but to entertain the crowd. It is a hybrid sport that
combines two traditional disciplines: chess and boxing. Two combatants play
alternating rounds of blitz chess and boxing until one wins by checkmate or
knockout. I consider this sport to be hilarious because boxing has already been a
combination of muscle and mind activity, so I can’t see there any avenges for young
people despite merriment. I think it to be quite clear, that to do this sport, you have to
have only gantlets and a chess board with chessmen.

Earthing is another newly developed sporting activity, which combines running and
swimming.
The Earthlete comes to the start line as the whistle blows to start the race, to a crouch
or block start. He executes a dive and upon entering the water undulates to a distance
no greater than 15 meters (short course) and 20 meters (long course) meters from the
transition pad and swims the remaining distance using freestyle.
The race is completed for time with a wall touch, so as not to be disqualified. It is an
outdoor activity so you just have to have a specially equipped field.

Finally, you can choose any of them, despite chess-boxing to develop your body’s
and mind's abilities.

19. As a member of students’ discussion club give a talk to its members

comparing popular sports and games in Ukraine, Great Britain and the USA.

In today’s fast-moving world there are a lot of various sports activities and games.
Every day a new one appears in the world. Some of them are really rare phenomena
others become world popular, with a lot of fans all over the planet. Such as football in
Ukraine, cricket in Great Britain, and American football in the USA
Football is a widely speeded and very popular type of sport in Ukraine. It can’t be
compared with anyone another not only in many teams but also funs. Every town and
even a small village has its team, and the match is held often.

Cricket is one of the most popular and ancient games that originated Britain in and
the whole world. This game has very specific and confusing rules which are different
from all other team games.

American Football is the most popular sport in the US. Although the sport is unique
to the country, it developed from two other sports, soccer and rugby. In 1869, two
college teams, Princeton and Rutgers, played the first football match.

Ukrainian popular game football is played all over the world, The World Cup is held
every year there are no special rules or national characteristics, while cricket and
American football were created in the country where it is the most popular type of
sport. And it is the main difference.

20. As part of your self-study programme you’ve been reading some fiction
during this term. Talk to the examiner about the book you’ve read: name the
author, mention specific features of his literary style, speak on the plot of the
book, its characters and the message addressed to the reader.
Well, I'm not sure I can give this book the first place in the ranking of my paper
favorites, but I have to admit that it evokes genuine emotions and leaves a tangible
aftertaste.
Regarding the plot: The events take place mainly in the prison "Cold Mountain",
block E, where prisoners sentenced to death by electric chair spend their last days.
Death row inmates walk through a corridor covered with green linoleum before their
time of reckoning. Hence the title - "Green Mile". The story is told from the point of
view of Paul Edgecombe, the former chief warden of Block E. One day, John Coffey,
a black and burly big man, arrives there for the rape and murder of two young sisters.
However, can a man who is afraid to sleep in the dark, who cries almost every day
from mental anguish, who has a big and kind heart, who has a "God's gift" (or maybe
a curse) and a desire to help people unselfishly, who is calm and balanced, really be a
brutal child killer?
The story is really interesting and worth my attention. Bright characters, whose
images are engraved in the memory. It is quite easy to read, I like the unique style of
[Link]. The fewer pages are left until the end of the book, the stronger the tension
grows. although I can't call myself sentimental, One moment made me shed tears.
This work is not only about prison and prisoners. In it the author touches upon many
topics: from racism, injustice and death - to sincere love, true friendship and
superhuman abilities. This novel also makes me think about the life stock, its
meaning and value. Because, who knows, maybe our personal "Green Mile" is
waiting for us.
