Intrinsically or extrinsically motivated?
P.T Barnum is motivated intrinsically. Ever since he was a
little kid he had a dream about being the greatest showman.
He has also always been extrinsically motivated by Charity
and her dad. Charity's dad always looked down on P.T
Barnum ever since he was a kid so he just wanted to show
Charity’s dad that he is good and not a failure. He also
wanted to give Charity a grand life and give her everything
her dad said he couldn't.
Apply it to your life
I can use Maslow’s triangle in my life when I start to think about my future
career. I want to become a OBGYN or a NICU nurse and I want to make
sure I make time for my family. I can use Maslow’s triangle to strive for
greatness and get better each day so then I can ultimately go into the
medical field and be able to spend time with my family. Using the steps of
Maslow's triangle I will be able to make friends in college who also strive
for greatness and have the same interests as me. Once I make friends I
can start to grow self- Actualization and become confident in my career
and my family.
