An increasing number of people are now using dating sites to

meet their second halves. Do you think that this tendency


helps people to socialize or does more harm than good? Give
your opinion. Provide relevant examples if necessary.

The current world is witnessing the rise of online dating


websites. In my opinion, this particular trend is desirable in
theory while in reality, it has been misued.

Being online platforms, dating sites break geographical


barriers and enable interactions between individuals
worldwide. Thus, the prospects of finding a foreign partner are
plausible for people who seeks partners from another
country. Another advantage of dating sites are people
being able to express their dating preferences and examining
others’. In this manner, a person can rid himself of potential
mismatches by comparing the two parties’ interests.

Despite their above mentioned merits, dating platforms are in


reality more of a menace to people’s emotional state than a
benefit. Firstly, individuals from different countries stand a
considerable chance of never being able to meet each other in
real life. Thus, their dating prospects are doomed from the
start and break-ups are inevitable. Another reason why
dating sites are harmful . People who discover partners
online are often in a rush to find a match. Hence, they are
more than prone to misjudge whether both sides are
compatible and would regularly find themselves in a failing
relationship with both parties having no affections towards the
other.

To conclude, in spite of boasting potentially advantageous


features, online dating platforms are actually negative in
assisting individuals to find their other halves.
