Q1. Very Short Answer Type Questions a) Define matter. (1) b) Write the SI unit of force. (1)
c) Name the organelle known as the “powerhouse of the cell.” (1) d) State one difference
between a physical change and a chemical change. (1) e) What is the function of stomata in
plants? (1)

Q2. Short Answer Type Questions (2 Marks each) a) State Newton’s First Law of Motion
with an example. (2) b) Differentiate between homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures with
examples. (2) c) Why is diffusion faster in gases than in liquids? (2) d) Explain the role of
chlorophyll in photosynthesis. (2) e) Write two differences between arteries and veins. (2) f)
What is the importance of the ozone layer? (2)
