SKIN VALVE FAULT If any messages about VENT SYS still remains after
reset C/B’s, try ditching ON then OFF, resets inputs
to AVNCS SYS.
AVNCS SYS FAULT If a message persists on the ECAM , verify that the
“Deactivation switch”, in both valves (EXTRACT and
BLOWER) are OFF. It must be ON, see figs. A and C
on next age

PART I
RESET OF CIDS

Two procedures are given below:

ROCEDURE A: may be used on ground (Engines running or not) or in flight, is a simplified reset
procedure which allows the reset of directives and odes not allowed the reset of all
other CIDS components (FAP….), however it covers the majority of reported failures.

PROCEDURE B: May only be used on the ground with both engines stopped, allows the full reset of all
systems.

Notes:

1. For procedure A or B, the pulling of C/B’s result in the reset of the CIDS and power up test during
which the system will not respond to any inputs or changes of any given commands sent by the
respective P/B, switches, etc, until the power up test has finished. Times are indicated for each
procedure.
2. A reset function is provided on the menu of the PTP (Programming and test panel), in the event
of a CIDS malfunction the data bus link between the director (s) and the PTP may also be
affected, therefore is suggested to limit resets to the pulling of C/B’s detailed, as a reset P/B of
the PTP, and initiates a power up test on the ARINC communications link between the
programming and the test panel and director exists.

PROCEDURE A

Note: During POWER UP TEST the CIDS remain out of service.

PART I
RESET OF SYSTEMS INDICATED OR INTERFACED THROUGH
FORWARD ATTENDANT PANEL (FAP)

This covers the following functions:

 The pre-recorded announcement and boarding music module


 The lavatory smoke indication
 CIDS caution light
 EVAC warning light

Note: Cabin illumination is directly controlled by CIDS, but the interface is through the FAP.

The following procedures can be applied either in flight or on the ground, with or without the engines
running, regardless of whether the doors are open or closed, unless a special procedure is indicated and
applied.

A. Procedure for restoring control of PRAM:

i. Press STOP P/B


ii. Press clear P/B
iii. Ensure all windows indicate program 000 loaded, if not enter 0 at each memo
iv. Load the numbers corresponding to the required announcement to ensure
correct recognition of command.
v. Operate in normal way.

If the RAM still fails to operate correctly it will be necessary to perform a reset by:

i. Pull PRAM C/B 2RX on Panel 2000VU.


ii. Wait approximately 10 seconds.
iii. Push C/B 2RX.
iv. Allow 3 minutes for PRAM to initialize.
v. Enter DATA as in (iv) above.

The reset procedure described in PART I for resetting the CIDS to gain control functions may also be
used in the event of a loss of control of the FAP which subsequently causing a loss of control the PRAM
in which case procedure (Reset of the CIDS by C/B) should be inserted between point (b) and (c)of the
previous procedure.

B. Procedure for extinguishing incorrect or spurious illumination of smoke light on FAP:

Subject to there being no genuine reason for the LAV SMOKE light to be illuminated (no smoke) after a
check of the relevant toilets the light on the FAP and area panels can be extinguished by the following
procedure provided that the reported smoke detection unit or controller is not faulty.

i. Press reset /B on FA.


ii. Light the attendant’s handset in the area nearest to the reporting toilet smoke
detector.
iii. Replace handset.

Note: If the signal was spurious the LAV SMOKE lamp will extinguish, if it illuminate again, the above
procedure may be tried only after a check of the relevant toilet area. Repetitive indications indicate further
maintenance on ground trouble-shooting may be necessary.

C. CIDS CAUTION LIGHT:

The caution light should only illuminate in flight where there is some positive action to be taken by the
cabin crew or when there is some degradation of a system that they need to know of.

Procedure in case of a Caution light illuminated:

i. Push “DISPLAY ON” P/B on the programming and TEST panel.


ii. Read message displayed of programming and test panel.
iii. Take any necessary action as advised by message.
iv. Reset caution light by pushing caution light front face.

Note: The message on the PTT will disappear automatically after 5 minutes. The Caution light will
illuminate automatically after landing if the failure still exists.

D. EVAC LIGHT:

If the EVAC warning goes off spuriously then the aural warning in the cabin can be cancelled by pressing
the reset button on the Forward Attendant Panel and/or Aft attendant panel. If the EVAC lamp is lit with
no aural t will be necessary to activate the EVAC signal via the “comd” P/B on the FAP (provided the
EVAC switch in the cockpit is in the CAPT + PURS position), or the EVAC switch in cockpit directly (which
will generate a warning) and then cancel the warning by pressing the “comd” P/B or switching the EVAC
switch.
Alternatively a reset of the CIDS would correct the situation, see PART I.

ANNEX II
VACUUM CONTROL

If the light SYSTEM INOP is ON and the A/C is above 16000’ the reset of C/B’s will not result. The
lavatories could be utilized in normal conditions but will need to pull the C/B VACUUM SYS on AFT
GALLEY. The waste QTY indication will be lost. Below 16000’ push the C/B in order to recover the
VACUUM SYSTEM.

For reset of the VACUUM SYSTEM pull the C/B’s:
