Good day as well. It is my pleasure to be part of
your discussion. I’m happy to share some insights
about curriculum development in our school.
Importance of Curriculum Trends

Questions no.1: Ma’am, in your experience as a
school principal, how important is it for schools to
follow the latest trends in curriculum development?
Principal Medelyn Ratonil:
Curriculum trends are very important because
education continues to evolve. Schools need
to adapt to changes in society, technology,
and the needs of learners. By following these
trends, we can ensure that our students
receive relevant knowledge and skills that will
help them succeed in the future.

curriculum regularly?
Principal Medelyn Ratonil:
Updating the curriculum is important because
the world is constantly changing. New
technologies, ideas, and societal needs
continue to emerge. If the curriculum stays
the same, students may not be fully prepared
for real-life challenges. By updating it, schools
can ensure that learners gain relevant
knowledge and skills that they can actually
use in the future.
Common Issues in Curriculum Implementation

Question no.3 Ma’am, what are some common issues
or challenges that schools face when implementing a
new curriculum?

Principal Medelyn Ratonil:
One common issue is adjusting to new teaching
strategies and materials. Teachers need proper training
and support to effectively implement changes. Another
challenge is ensuring that resources such as books,
technology, and facilities are available to support the
curriculum.
Question n.4 As a school principal, what is one
common issue you encounter in curriculum
implementation, and how do you address it?
Principal Medelyn Ratonil:
One of the most common issues I encounter is the gap
between what is planned in the curriculum and what
actually happens in the classroom. Sometimes,
teachers struggle to fully implement the curriculum
due to limited resources, time constraints, or varying
levels of readiness among learners. To address this, I
make it a priority to support my teachers through
regular mentoring, providing necessary materials, and
encouraging open communication. We also conduct
training and collaborative planning so teachers can
share strategies and adapt lessons to meet students’
needs. In this way, we ensure that the curriculum is not
just followed, but truly experienced and understood by
our learners.

Role of Teachers in Curriculum Development

the development and improvement of the curriculum?

Teachers play a very important role because they are
the ones who directly interact with students. They
provide feedback about what works and what needs
improvement in the curriculum. Their experiences in
the classroom help shape better learning strategies
and activities for students.

Ma’am, how has technology influenced the current
trends in curriculum development?
Principal Medelyn Ratonil:
Technology has greatly influenced education. Today,
digital tools, online learning platforms, and interactive
resources are integrated into the curriculum. These
technologies make learning more engaging and help
students develop digital literacy skills that are essential
in the modern world.

Lastly, Ma’am, what advice can you give to future
teachers regarding curriculum development?
Principal Medelyn Ratonil:
My advice is to always stay open to learning and
improvement. Education is constantly changing, so
teachers should continue developing their skills and
understanding new teaching approaches.
Most importantly, always focus on what is best for the
students’ learning and development.
