ABSTRACT
Food waste in educational institutions is a persistent issue that leads to unnecessary resource
loss and environmental impact. Many students discard untouched or partially consumed food
due to quality concerns or lack of appetite. Simultaneously, NGOs and shelters face food
shortages. ReFoodify is a gamified web application aimed at solving this by allowing students
to log real-time feedback on their meals, which restaurants use to improve quality. The app uses
QR codes for meal validation and logs surplus or untouched food that can be claimed by
registered NGOs. Gamification features like points, badges, leaderboards, and streaks
incentivize students to report honestly and participate actively. Restaurants get insights to
minimize waste and build brand value, while NGOs receive timely alerts for surplus pickups.
This system encourages behavioral change, reduces food waste, and bridges the gap between
excess and need in a digitally engaging way.
