SCIENCE PRACTICAL FILE

Class 10 - HBSE

Name: ____________
Class/Section: ____________
Roll No: ____________

Subject: Science
Index

1. Identification of Acids and Bases

2. Photosynthesis Experiment
3. Verification of Ohm’s Law
Experiment 1: Identification of Acids and Bases
Aim: To identify acids and bases using different indicators and understand their properties in detail.

Materials Required: Litmus papers, phenolphthalein, methyl orange, HCl, NaOH, test tubes.

Procedure: Take test tubes, add acid and base solutions. Test with litmus and indicators. Repeat
steps carefully and note color changes in detail.

Observation: Color changes clearly show difference between acidic and basic nature. Indicators
behave differently.

Result: Acids and bases can be distinguished using indicators.

Precautions: Handle chemicals carefully and follow safety rules.

Additional Explanation:
Take test tubes, add acid and base solutions. Test with litmus and indicators. Repeat steps
carefully and note color changes in detail. Color changes clearly show difference between acidic
and basic nature. Indicators behave differently.
Experiment 2: Photosynthesis
Aim: To show sunlight is necessary for photosynthesis.

Materials Required: Potted plant, iodine, alcohol, water bath.

Procedure: Cover leaf, expose to sunlight, boil in water and alcohol, then test with iodine.

Observation: Exposed part turns blue-black, covered part does not.

Result: Sunlight is necessary for photosynthesis.

Precautions: Do not heat alcohol directly.

Additional Explanation:
Cover leaf, expose to sunlight, boil in water and alcohol, then test with iodine. Exposed part turns
blue-black, covered part does not.
Experiment 3: Verification of Ohm’s Law
Aim: To verify relation between voltage and current.

Materials Required: Battery, resistor, ammeter, voltmeter.

Procedure: Connect circuit, take multiple readings of current and voltage.

Observation: Graph is straight line showing proportionality.

Result: Ohm’s Law is verified.

Precautions: Ensure correct connections.

Additional Explanation:
Connect circuit, take multiple readings of current and voltage. Graph is straight line showing
proportionality.
