Abstract Tech Comm

The document discusses Sustainable Development Goal 7, which aims to provide affordable and clean energy through sustainable technologies that minimize environmental harm. It emphasizes the importance of reducing fossil fuel use and highlights renewable energy sources like wind, hydropower, and solar energy, as well as landfill gas recovery technology. While implementation may be costly, it has the potential to alleviate energy poverty, especially in developing countries, and promote better health and environmental conditions.

Abstract

17 Sustainable Development Goals have been introduced to reduce challenges faced

worldwide such as injustice, poverty, and global warming. In this project SDG 7: Affordable
and Clean Energy will be discussed in detail. This chosen goal focuses on using suitable
technologies that do not cause further harm to the environment to generate sustainable energy
that is accessible to the public. SDG 7 takes into account the importance of reducing the use
of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, or gas to produce energy which has proven to be harmful to
the environment and contributes to global warming. This goal focuses on using sources found
in nature that do not run out to produce energy such as wind power, hydropower, and solar
energy. Using these sources can be a permanent solution to the challenge of reducing air
pollution. Landfill gas recovery is one of the technologies used to address the chosen goal. It
uses harmful gases released from landfills to generate sustainable energy. This is beneficial to
the environment as greenhouse gases such as methane are reduced which results in a cleaner
environment. It is also beneficial to the community as good health is promoted and more
people can have access to renewable energy which can be used to meet basic living needs
such as cooking. Implementing this technology can be expensive as the equipment used needs
to be monitored and skilled engineers involved in designing, maintaining, and operating the
technology need to be paid. This technology has the potential to reduce the shortage of
energy worldwide, especially in developing countries that face energy poverty. Provided that
this technology is implemented efficiently, countries can have access to energy that is not
limited and the environment will not be harmed in any way.
