WRITING TASK 1 MAP ( FUNCTION)
The two maps illustrate that how the Science and Technology Museum has
changed between 1996 and 2016. Overall, the museum was modernised, with
traditional facilities have been transformed into advanced technology areas.
The key changes include involved the removal of the writing desks and the
print room, which were removed, while the new technology area was
introduced as well as the introduction of new technology areas. In addition,
outdoor facilities and visitor areas were expanded.
In 1996, the museum predominantly consisted of traditional exhibitions and
study-related rooms. However, by 2016, several areas has had been
transformed. The writing desks were replaced by a computer room, while the
print room became the digital technology room. Moreover, the diesel engine
exhibition was converted into an electric car display, while the steam engine
exhibition remained unchanged. Additionally, the technology areas, namely a
3D cinema and a VR room, were introduced. Regarding the visitor and outdoor
areas, the cafe was upgraded to a restaurant, and the reception room was
expanded more larger the reception area was expanded. Furthermore, the
Solar wind area was erected near the car park a solar wind area was
added near the car park in the northeast of the map, and the bicycle park was
added, although the car park continued to occupy a large area. ( although the
car park continued to occupy a substantial proportion of the site.)
