Project name

“ Obstacle Detector Stick ”

Project abstract

This project is about an obstacle detector stick for blind people that helps them
move safely and independently. The stick uses ultrasonic sensors to detect
obstacles in front of the user. When an object is close, it gives a warning
through sound or vibration. It helps blind people avoid accidents by alerting
them to walls, people, or other obstacles in their path. This smart stick improves
safety and confidence while walking.

The Obstacle Detector Stick is an assistive device designed to enhance mobility

and safety for visually impaired individuals. The system uses ultrasonic sensors
to detect obstacles within a predefined range and alerts the user through
vibration or sound signals. By continuously scanning the surroundings, the
stick provides real-time feedback, helping users navigate unfamiliar or crowded
environments with greater confidence. The device is lightweight, low-cost, and
energy-efficient, making it suitable for daily use. This project demonstrates
how simple sensor technology and microcontroller- based systems can be
combined to create an effective aid that improves independence and reduces the
risk of accidents for visually impaired people.
