General Instructions:
(a) This question paper consists of 39 questions in 5 sections A, B, C, D and E.
(b) SECTION-A question no. 1 to 16 consists of multiple objective type questions (MCQs) and [Link]. 17 to 20
consist of assertion and reason type questions, carrying one mark each.
(c) SECTION-B question no. 21 to 26 are short answer type questions, carrying two marks each. Answer to
these questions should be in the range of 30 to 50 words.
(d) SECTION-C question no. 27 to 33 are short answer type questions, carrying three marks each. Answer to
these questions should be in the range of 50 to 80 words.
(e) SECTION-D question no. 34 to 36 are long answer type questions, carrying two marks each. Answer to
these questions should be in the range of 80 to 120 words.
(f) SECTION-E question no. 37 to 39 are source based / case base questions, carrying each with subparts.
(g) There is no overall choice. However, internal choices have been provided in some questions. A student
has to attempt only one of the alternatives in such questions.
(h) Wherever necessary, neat and properly labeled diagram should be drawn.

37. A girl met with an accident and her legs got fractured. She went to an 4
orthopedician for treatment. On examination, the doctor mixed a white
powder in water and applied it to her leg along with the cotton and gauze.
After a while, it turned into white, solid, hard mass. The doctor said that it
would support her fractured bone and help it to join in the right position.
(a) What is ‘white powder’ and ‘white hard solid mass’ called as?
(b) Write the chemical name of ‘white powder’ and ‘white hard solid mass’.
(c) After the treatment, the doctor repacked the white powder back into
moisture proof airtight container. Why?

38. Read the passage carefully and answer the questions given below. 4
The control and coordination in plants is done by plant hormones. The plant
hormones coordinate the activities of the plant by controlling one or the other
aspect of the growth of the plant. So, the plant hormones are also known as
plant growth substances. The growth of a plant can be divided into three stages
B cell division, cell enlargement and cell differentiation (or cell specialization),
and these stages have particular locations in a plant.

39. Manish learnt that the lens formula can be used to find the focal length of a 4
[Link] distant object method gives the value of Rough /approximate focal
length of a [Link] decides to experimentally verify the relationship.

He fixed a convex lens vertically on the stand and


placed it on the table. Then he placed the wire
gauze object on the left side of the convex lens and
the screen on the right side of the convex lens. He
found the image distances for various positions of the wire gauze object. He
