1. INRODUCTION TO COMPUTER
A computer is an electronic machine that takes input, process It, and gives
output. It work very fast and give accurate results.

Example:
When we type numbers in calculator, it gives us answer. That is also a computer.
Computer works on IPO Cycle:

• Input
• Process
• Output

2. PARTS OF COMPUTER
There are two main parts:
1. Hardware
Hardware means physical part of computer that we can touch.
Example:

• Monitor
• Keyboard
• Mouse
• CPU
• Printer
2. Software
Software means programs or application that help computer to work.
Example:

• Windows
• MS word
• MS excel
• Tally
• Google Chrome

3. INPUT DEVICES
Input devices are used to enter data into computer.
Examples:

• Keyboard – used to type text


• Mouse – used to click and select
• Scanner – used to scan document
• Microphone – used to record voice

4. OUTPUT DEVICES
Output devices show the result from computer.
Examples:

• Monitor – show output on screen


• Printer – Prints on paper
• Speaker – produce sound

5. CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT (CPU)


CPU Is called the “brain of computer”.
It has three parts.
1. ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) - does calculation
2. CU (Control Unit) – controls all operation
3. Memory Unit – Stores data temporarily

6. TYPES OF COMPUTERS
1. Desktop computer
2. Laptop
3. Tablet
4. Supercomputer
Supercomputer is very powerful. They are using in weather forecasting and
space research.

7. MEMORY IN COMPUTER

There are two types of memory:


1. Primary memory
• Ram (Random Access Memory)
• ROM (Read only memory)
2. Secondary Memory
• Hard disk
• Pen drive
• CD/DVD
RAM is temporary memory.
ROM is permanent memory.

8. OPREATING SYSTEM (OP)


Operating system is the main software that controls the computer.
Examples:

• Windows
• Linux
• MacOS
Without operating System, Computer cannot work.

9. MICROSOFT WORD
MS word is a word processing software. It is used to create letters, Documents,
resumes, and projects.
Some features of MS Word:

• Font style change


• Bold, italic, underline
• Insert image
• Page layout
• Save and Print

10. MICROSOFT EXCEL

MS excel is used for calculation and data management.


Uses:

• Salary calculation
• Marksheet preparation
• Business record
Excel works with row and Coolum.

11. MICROSOFT POWERPOINT


MS powerpoint is used to create presentations.
It is used in:

• School project
• Business Meeting
• Seminar

12. INTERNET
Internet is a global network that connect computers worldwide.
Uses of internet:

• Online study
• Email
• Online banking
• Job search
Example Browser:

• Google chrome
• Microsoft Edge

13. BASIC COMPUTER SHORTCUT


Ctrl+C – copy
Ctrl+V – paste
Ctrl+X – cut
ctrl+S – save
Ctrl+P – Print
Ctrl+Z – undo

14. COMPUTER FULL FORMS


CPU – Central Processing Unit
RAM – Random Access Memory
ROM – Read only memory
USB – universal Serial bus
WWW – World Wide Web

15. ADVANTAGE OF COMPUTER


• Fast Working
• Accurate result
• Store large data
• Save time

16. CONCLUSION
Computer is a very important in modern life. It is used in schools, banks, offices,
hospitals, and business.
Learning computer skills helps us to get better job opportunities in future.
