• Noun

• Definition: a noun is the name of a person, an animal, a thing, a place, an action, and an idea to
something.

• There are eight types of a nouns.

• Common nouns: a common noun name a class or group of people, place things, or feelings. Also, a
common noun are words used to name general items but not for specific one.

• Example: He is a teacher.

• She is a doctor.

Proper noun
• Proper nouns: Are the name for particular people, animal, place, or thing.
• Example: My teacher’s name is NIZA.
• He is American.
• Today I go to Thailand.

• Collective Nouns
• Collective Noun are names for a collection or number or thing. Collective noun is used to describe a group of people
or things.
• Example: An army of soldiers.
• A class of students.

Concrete nouns
• Concrete nouns: a concrete noun is a noun which anything or anyone that you can perceive through
your physical senses touch sigh teste hearing or smell. a concrete noun is the opposite of an abstract
noun.
• Example: The judge handed the files to the clerk.

• Compoun Nouns
• Compound nouns: a compound nouns are a made up of two or more words acting as a singular noun.
The words may be written as once word, written as separate words, or hyphenate words.

Abstract nouns
• Abstract nouns: an abstract noun does not attempt external or recognizable. An abstract noun is a noun
which names anything which you cannot perceive through you cannot perceive through your five
physical sense and is the opposite of a concrete noun.
• Example: Her beauty can attract some boys to love her.
• My aunt usually raises money for charity.

• Countable Nouns
• Countable nouns most nouns in English are countable noun. We can put a number before them.

• Example: Tomatoes
• Balls
• Bananas

Concrete nouns
• Uncountable nouns: Some are uncountable nouns. we cannot put a number before them. They have no
plural form.
• Example:Water
• Sugar
• Coffee

• Adjective
• Definition: An adjective is a word that modifies or describes a noun or pronoun. Adjectives can be
used to describe the qualities of someone or something independently or in comparison to something
else.
• Remember that adjectives can modify as well as describe other words, and you’ll find it much easier to
identify different types of adjectives when you see them.
• There are eight types of an adjective

Descriptive Adjective
• Descriptive Adjectives: are used to illustrate or describe the qualities of a noun or pronoun of a sentence.
• Example: Harley Davidson is an expensive bike.

• Demonstrative adjective
• Demonstrative adjectives: demonstrate about things, people, or animals. It is used to express the
position of the noun. It comes before other adjectives in phrases or sentences.
• Example: This movie is so funny.

Distributive Adjective
• Distributive Adjectives: are generally used to point to a particular group or individual and are used
with singular nouns. It is used to modify nouns. “Each, neither every, and either” is four distributive
Adjectives.
• Example: Each student has to take part in cultural events

• Interrogative adjective

• Interrogative adjectives: are used to interrogate nouns and modify them. There are three
interrogative adjectives, “which, what, and whose,” respectively.
• Example: What is the exact location of your residence?

Numeral adjective
• Numeral adjective: determines us about the number of the nouns present in any sentence.
• Numeral Adjectives are of three types:
• Definite Numeral Adjectives (cardinal and ordinal)
• Indefinite Numeral Adjectives
• Distributive Numeral Adjectives.
• Example: Mark purchased five Bugatti cars from the showroom. (Cardinal

• The quanitative adjective


• The quantitative Adjective: is used to explain the noun (person or thing )and its quantity in the sentence.
Sometimes a numeral adjective is also called a quantitative adjective though it specifies the numbers. Little, more,
much, few, all, large, small, tall, thirty, fifty, etc.
• Example:
• Among all, some of them are Spanish, a few are Turkish, and the rest are Afrikaans.

Proper Adjective
• Proper Adjective indicates an appropriate person, thing, animal, or object. It refers to a
particular person of existence and hence needs to be capitalized.
• Example: Asian countries organized a Commonwealth Games.

• A possessive adjective

• A Possessive adjective: shows the possession nature of the noun to a person or people in a
sentence. The possessive Adjective also performs as a possessive pronoun.
• Example:My PC is working better now as it has worked in the beginning.

Verb
• Definition: Verbs is a word that describe what the subject of sentence doing. Verb can indicate
(physical or mental) actions, occurrences, and state of being.
• Example:I go to school at 6:00 o’clock.
• Anita is thinking about horses.
• There are four TYPES of verbs.

• Intranition
• Intransitive verb is verb that express action that do not take an object. The subjects and verbs express a complete
thought without an object. The verb can however be followed by an adverb or other modifier.
• Example:I can run.
• I ran in the race.

Transitive
• Transitive verbs are the verb that express action that terminates in or in receive by an object the
object of a transitive verb can be a noun, pronoun, or a noun clause or phrase.
• Example:I think that you are correct. (Noun clause object)

• Linking Verb

• Linking verbs are the verbs of the senses feel, look, smell, or taste and a limited number of other verbs
like be, seen, become or remain that is link the subject of the sentence with a complement. Linking verbs
are always followed by an adjective, noun, or noun phrase that acts as a complement.
• Example:He is a layer. (Noun as complement)

Passive- voice verb
• Passive-voice verbs are the verbs that allow the subject to receive the action rather than to do the
action passive-voice verbs are made by using some form of the verb “be” that allowed by a verbs can be
turned into the passive form.
• Example: Our team was beaten at softball. (By the opposing team)

• Adverb
• Definition : An adverb is a word that can modify or describe a verb, adjective, another adverb, or entire sentence.
Adverbs can be used to show manner (how something happens), degree (to what extent), place (where), and time
(when).
• Adverbs are usually formed by adding -ly to the end of an adjective (e.g., “quick” becomes “quickly”), although
there are also other adverbs that do not have this ending. There are also adverbial phrases, series of words that play
the grammatical role of adverbs.
• Example: Ali walked quickly.

Adverb of menner
• Adverbs of manner: These adverbs are those that describe the manner in which an action is done.
Basically, it can be said that the adverbs of manner answer the question ‘how’.
• Example:Quickly, promptly, clearly, slowly, gradually, eventually, rapidly, seriously, instantly, keenly,
etc.

• Adverb of time

Adverbs of time: As the name suggests, the adverbs of time are used to tell the reader when some action
is occurring. Adverbs of time include general time periods and specific times. We can identify an adverb of
time by asking the question ‘when’.
• Example: Now, soon, today, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, next month, recently, forever, etc.

Adverb of place
• Adverbs of place: These adverbs are used to indicate where the action mentioned in the sentence is
taking place. Adverbs of place can be identified by asking the question (Where).
• Example:Somewhere, anywhere, nowhere, here, outside, inside, wherever, elsewhere, left, right, north,
east, south, west, etc.

• Adverb of definite frequency


• Adverbs of definite frequency: use to give a more precise description of how often something
happens. They typically occur at the end of a sentence.
• Example:I check my email hourly.

Adverb of purpose
• Adverbs of purpose or Conjunctive adverb: (also called adverbs of reason) help to
explain Why something is the case. Many adverbs of purpose function as conjunctive adverbs. Other adverbs of
purpose usually take the form of adverbial phrases instead of individual words.
• Example:
• The company made a huge profit; therefore, the employees were given raises.
• Since you are busy, I’ll call back later.

• Adverb of degree
• Adverbs of degree are used to qualify verbs, adjectives, or adverbs by expressing extent or degree.
Some common adverbs of degree include: “extremely,” “absolutely,” “slightly,” “quiet,” and “enough.”
• Example: It is extremely cold this time of the year.

Preposition
• Definition : A preposition is a word or group of words used before a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase to
show direction, time, place, location, spatial relationships, or to introduce an object. Some examples of
prepositions are words like "in," "at," "on," "of," and "to."
• There are four types of prepositions in English.

• Preposition of time

• Prepositions of time: show the relationship of time between the nouns to the other parts of a
sentence. On, at, in, from, to, for, since, ago, before, till/until, by, etc. These are the most common
preposition of time.
• Example: He started working at 10 AM.
• The company called meeting on 25 October.

Preposition of place
• Prepositions of place: show the relationship of place between the nouns to the other parts of a
sentence. On, at, in, by, from, to, towards, up, down, across, between, among, though, in front of, behind,
above, over, under, below, etc. These are the most common prepositions of place/direction
• Example: He is at home.

• Preposition of agent or thing

• Prepositions of agents or things: indicate a causal relationship between nouns and other parts of
the sentence. Of, for, by, with, about, etc. These are the most used and common prepositions of agents or
things.
• Example: This article is about smartphones.

A phrasal preposition
• A phrasal preposition: is not a prepositional phrase, but they are a combination of two or more
words that function as a preposition. Along with, apart from, because of, by means of, according to, in
front of, contrary to, in spite of, on account of, in reference to, in addition to, in regard to, instead of, on top
of, out of, with regard to, etc. These are the most common phrasal prepositions
• Example: They along with their children went to Atlanta.
• According to the new rules, you are not right.

Conjuntion

• Prepositions of agents or things: indicate a causal relationship between nouns and other parts of
the sentence. Of, for, by, with, about, etc. These are the most used and common prepositions of agents or
things.
• Example: This article is about smartphones.

Coordinating Conjuntion

• This type of conjunction is used to connect items that are grammatically equal: two words, two phrases,
or two independent clauses. There are seven coordinating conjunctions in English, and you can
remember them using the mnemonic device FANBOYS: for, and, nor, but, or, yet and so.
• Example: I don’t like to run or swim.

• Subodinating Conjuntion

• This type of conjunction includes words like because, if, although, since, until, and while. A subordinating
conjunction is used to introduce a dependent clause.
• Example:
• Because I woke up late this morning, I went to school without eating breakfast

• This type of conjunction always comes in a pair and is used to join grammatically equal elements in a sentence.
Common pairs include either … or, neither … nor, not only … but also, and both … and. In most cases,
no comma should be used between the two elements.
• Example:
• Her book on the Vietnam War drew not only from interviews with other survivors but also from her own

• Exclamation
• loudly, or emphatically and that expresses excitement, admiration, shock, or anger.
• How to Use the Exclamation Mark
• Use an exclamation mark at the end of a strong command, an interjection, or an emphatic declaration.
• Example: Stop! he yelled. You’ve got two flat tires!
