1. Research Design
This study will employ a descriptive and exploratory research design. The descriptive aspect
will capture the current strategies, practices, and consumer perceptions of Zus Coffee in the
Philippines, while the exploratory component will identify emerging opportunities and
challenges in the specialty coffee market. A mixed-methods approach will be used,
combining both quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to ensure a comprehensive
understanding of the subject.

2. Research Locale
The research will be conducted in selected Zus Coffee branches in Metro Manila, where the
brand has established its presence since entering the Philippine market in 2023. Online
platforms such as Zus Coffee’s mobile application and social media channels will also be
considered as part of the research locale, given their role in customer engagement.

3. Respondents of the Study

- Primary respondents: Filipino consumers who have purchased from Zus Coffee (regular
customers, occasional buyers, and first-time visitors).
- Secondary respondents: Zus Coffee managers, baristas, and marketing staff in the
Philippines.
- Sample size: Approximately 20–50 consumer respondents for surveys, and 5–10 key
informants for interviews.
- Sampling technique: A combination of purposive sampling (for staff and management) and
convenience sampling (for customers visiting branches).

4. Research Instruments
- Survey Questionnaire: Structured questions focusing on customer experience, brand
perception, digital engagement, and satisfaction levels.
- Interview Guide: Semi-structured questions for managers and staff to explore business
strategies, operational challenges, and adaptation to market conditions.
- Observation Checklist: To record customer behavior, store ambiance, and service delivery
in selected branches.

5. Data Gathering Procedure

1. Preparation: Develop and validate survey and interview instruments through expert
review.
2. Distribution: Administer surveys both in-store and online (via Google Forms or similar
platforms).
3. Interviews: Conduct face-to-face or virtual interviews with staff and management.
4. Observation: Visit selected branches to document customer interactions and operational
practices.
5. Collection: Gather responses over a period of 2–4 weeks to ensure sufficient data.

6. Data Analysis
- Quantitative Data: Survey results will be analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency,
percentage, mean) to identify trends in consumer preferences and satisfaction.
- Qualitative Data: Interview transcripts and observation notes will be analyzed using
thematic analysis, categorizing responses into themes such as innovation, customer
engagement, and market adaptation.
- Triangulation: Findings from surveys, interviews, and observations will be cross-validated
to strengthen reliability.

7. Ethical Considerations
- Informed consent will be obtained from all respondents.
- Participation will be voluntary, with the option to withdraw at any time.
- Data confidentiality will be maintained, and results will be reported in aggregate form
without identifying individual respondents.
- The study will adhere to ethical standards in academic research, ensuring respect and
fairness toward participants.
