Success Criteria
• I can name the stages of an insect life cycle.
– I can explain what happens at each stage.
– I can use scientific vocabulary (egg, larva, pupa,
adult, metamorphosis).
– I can present my research clearly.
Key Vocabulary
• Life Cycle – the stages a living thing goes
through during its life.
– Metamorphosis – a big change in body shape as
an insect grows.
– Larva – the young stage of an insect (e.g.,
caterpillar).
– Pupa – the stage where the insect transforms.
– Adult – the fully grown insect.
What is Metamorphosis?
• Many insects change shape as they grow.
– This process is called metamorphosis.
– Some insects go through four stages:
– Egg → Larva → Pupa → Adult

• You will choose an insect to research.
– Find out about its life cycle.
– Create an informative poster or fact file.
– You can also create a Keynote.
