1 Idea
Many a times we does forget things at some place and later we may or may not
find them. Though they might have found to some others, in many situations
it is of no use due to lack of a communication channel between them. So this
made me to take up this project. This website can be made to act as a channel
for all those who lost things and even for all those who found things.

2 Software used
• Django

• Virtual Environment
• Python 3
• Pillow
• Crispy Forms

3 Scope of this project

I think in the current situation, it is much useful for our college itself, as in
most the time IIIT-B longue group is being flooded with all lost and found
things. Since it is most common and much needed thing for each and every
organisation or a community, this project servers their needs as it consists of
most of the features that are needed and this website is a universal website,
i.e this project doesn’t need to be changed much to bring it in use for other
organisation or community.

4 Features
This website consists of most of the features that are required for a basic lost
and found website.
• Login and register:
Users can login and register. One a user is registered, he/she can view
his/her profile. A default profile picture is also assigned to every user.
He/she can change his profile pic using the edit section present in his
profile [Link] features requires users to login/register while others do
not require any.

• User specific options:

Once logged in, users can view at their lost and found things in their
profiles [Link] can even view the currently active lost and found
things.

• Edit details:
Users can edit their details by using the option present under their profiles
section.(Users can edit their username, email, profile picture)
• Report lost:
Here users can report their lost things and it is implemented in such a
way that the user must be logged in before he does post something. If the
user is not logged in, and if tries to report (post) his lost thing, the site
auto redirects to login page and after the user enter his valid credentials,
the site auto redirects him to his desired web [Link] he gets a form
to fill in his and the lost thing details.
• Check what people lost:
It is the place where the lost things that are reported in “report lost” are
[Link] doesn’t require any need for the user to log in as it does not
serve for his purpose. For example if a person finds something and wants
to check the list of what people have lost, there should be no need for him
to be a registered [Link] he need not register or rather login to view this
list.
• Report found:
This servers a similar feature to “report lost”. Here users can report the
found things. Again it does not require login (or registration) as it doesn’t
serve his issue.
• Check what people found:
Again this is similar to “Check what people lost” section, but here users
can find the list of all the found [Link] requires login/register.

5 Experience
Over all it was a wonderful experience as though I initially had this thought of
lost and found website(when I lost my own rackets in MPH during first month
of college itself), I didn’t concentrate much as I thought rendering a website is
“god level”. But when I have stated googling stuff, it came out to be a piece of
cake (though it took ample time for me to understand what’s exactly is going
on). Then the next challenge I faced was to select among the flask and Django(as
I thought to stick to only one thing completely). After a thorough research, I
at last decided to go with Django!
There were many issues in installing virtual environment and Django themselves
in initial [Link] later biggest challenge I faced is to write code, as I made
tons of mistakes (which were very silly) due to which it became very difficult to
debug the code. But as I was finishing the project, I understood that what ever
I have learnt is from debugging these stuff! And in the initial time, I wasn’t
even able to understand how things are working and how each file is linked with
each other. Slowly I just started to love doing the stuff and just went in a flow.
