Learning Outcomes
By the end of the lesson, the teacher trainees should be able to:
a) Describe the background and call of Prophet Jeremiah.
b) Role-play the call of Jeremiah.
c) Appreciate the importance of responding positively to God’s call as shown in the life
of Prophet Jeremiah.

Teaching and Learning Resources
The lesson will use the following resources: The Bible (Jeremiah 1:4–10); a chart on the call
of the Prophet Jeremiah; a map of Judah; pictures of prophets; manila paper; markers; and
improvised materials available at the college.
1. Lesson Introduction
The lecturer introduces the lesson by asking teacher trainees to mention prophets they know
from the Old Testament. As they respond, the lecturer guides them to the name Jeremiah and
introduces the topic, Introduction to Prophet Jeremiah. The lecturer then asks key inquiry
questions, which the teacher trainees brainstorm on. The lecturer then displays the map of
Judah and briefly explains the setting of Jeremiah’s ministry.
At this stage, communication and collaboration are developed as teacher trainees share
ideas and listen to one another. The core value of respect is promoted as they appreciate
each other’s responses.
2. Lesson Development
The lecturer guides the teacher trainees to read Jeremiah 1:4–10 silently in pairs. After the
reading, the teacher trainees summarise the text with regard to the background and the call of
Prophet Jeremiah.
At this point, learning to learn is developed as teacher trainees obtain information from the
biblical text and visual resources. The core value of responsibility is emphasized when
discussing how Jeremiah accepted God’s call. The PCI of moral courage also emerges from
Jeremiah's acceptance of a difficult task.
In pairs, they discuss and list facts such as Jeremiah’s birthplace, his call, his fear because of
his youth, and God’s assurance to him. Each pair then presents its findings to the class, while
the lecturer guides them in organising the responses into a clear summary.
Here, self-efficacy and unity are developed as the trainees identify and organise the facts
from the passage. Communication and collaboration are also strengthened through group
discussion and reporting. The core values of cooperation and respect are practised as the
trainees work together in groups and listen to one another.
The lecturer guides the teacher trainees to role-play the call of Jeremiah. Creativity and
leadership are enhanced as teacher trainees organise themselves, take roles, and present the
play in class.
The lecturer displays charts summarizing the background and the call of Prophet Jeremiah.
3. Lesson Conclusion
The lecturer then asks oral questions to confirm understanding and guides the teacher trainees
to state the moral lesson they learn from Jeremiah’s response to God’s call.
At this stage, learning to learn is reinforced through summary and reflection. The core value
of responsibility is emphasised once more as teacher trainees draw lessons from Jeremiah’s
life. The PCI of moral courage is also reinforced as they appreciate the importance of
standing firm in one’s calling.
4. Assessment
Assessment will be carried out through oral questions, observation of group discussions, and
identification of key facts from the biblical passage.
5. Extended Activity
Teacher trainees will prepare alternative learning resources related to the background and the
call of Prophet Jeremiah and present them to the class by explaining how to use these
resources effectively during the teaching-learning process.
