Reflection Notes on Demonstration of Teaching Practices

Subject: English – Grade 6


Focus: Integration of Teaching and Learning Resources including ICT

After actively participating in our Learning Action Cell (LAC) sessions, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs),
and collegial meetings, I was able to reflect deeply on my teaching practices and how these can be
improved using teacher and learner feedback.

During our LAC sessions, we discussed strategies for enhancing learner engagement, differentiating
instruction, and integrating ICT tools effectively in English lessons. I gained valuable insights from my
colleagues regarding interactive teaching strategies, formative assessment techniques, and the use of
digital resources to support diverse learners.

In my Grade 6 English demonstration lesson, I applied the following improvements:

1. Use of ICT Tools

o Integrated a PowerPoint presentation with visuals and short video clips to introduce the
lesson.

o Used interactive quizzes (e.g., Google Forms) to assess learner understanding.

o Utilized multimedia resources to improve comprehension and vocabulary development.

2. Learner-Centered Strategies

o Incorporated group activities and peer discussions.

o Applied questioning techniques aligned with Bloom’s Taxonomy.

o Encouraged learner feedback at the end of the lesson through reflection slips.

3. Use of Teacher and Learner Feedback

o Adjusted pacing of instruction based on learner responses.

o Provided immediate corrective feedback during guided practice.

o Reflected on student engagement and participation to improve future lessons.

Based on learner feedback, students expressed that they better understood the lesson when visual aids
and interactive activities were used. They were more confident in participating during group tasks and
digital assessments.

From peer feedback during post-conference discussions, I learned to:

 Improve time management during activities.

 Provide clearer instructions before transitioning to group tasks.

 Maximize ICT tools not just for presentation but also for collaboration.
Overall, participation in LAC sessions and collegial discussions significantly enriched my teaching
practice. It strengthened my ability to design engaging, inclusive, and technology-enhanced lessons that
support diverse learning needs. I will continue to apply reflective practice and collaborative learning to
ensure continuous professional growth.
