CATIA

AIM:
To create the 3D model of the given mechanical component using Part Design workbench in CATIA V5
according to the specified dimensions.

REQUIREMENTS
Software: CATIA V5
Hardware: Computer system with mouse and keyboard
Tools Used: Sketch, Pad, Pocket, Hole, Fillet, Constraint tools

THEORY
CATIA V5 is a 3D CAD software developed by Dassault Systèmes used for product design and engineering
applications. In the Part Design workbench, a 2D sketch is first created on a reference plane and then converted
into a 3D solid using the Pad command. Material can be removed using Pocket or Hole commands, and constraints
control the geometry and dimensions of the model.

PROCEDURE
1. Open CATIA V5 and create a new Part file.

2. Select the XY Plane and sketch a rectangle of 98 mm × 42 mm.

3. Use Pad to give 14 mm thickness to create the base plate.

4. On the top surface sketch a rectangle of 24 mm × 42 mm and pad it to 14 mm.

5. Create the middle support block according to the drawing and apply Pad.

6. Sketch the curved bracket using an arc of radius 21 mm and pad it.

7. Create a hole of diameter 20 mm on the bracket.

8. Create the base hole on the right block using the Hole command.

9. Create the triangular groove using Sketch and Pocket commands.

10. Apply fillets if required according to the drawing.

RESULT
The given mechanical component was successfully created in CATIA V5 using the Part Design Workbench
according to the specified dimensions, and the final 3D model contains all required features such as base plate,
bracket, holes, and slots.
