Part A: Write the Training Title & Program Description.
Write a title and brief description of the training. You may use this to promote your program.
Title (10 words or less)
Brief Description (50 words or less)
Part B: Write the Audience Profile.
Write a brief description of your target audience.
Describe their level of experience, the students they work with, etc. What topics do they need training or support
in? How do you know? Reasons for how you know what topics would be helpful can come from observations,
surveys, self-reports, course discussions, etc.
Part C: Write 2-3 Training Goals.
Write the Objectives/Goals of the Training.
Use this format: “After this training, participants will be able to…” This format is similar to the student
learning objectives that you have written for your course and lesson plan.
Example: “After this training, participants will be able to identify 3 strategies they can try in an EMI class in
order to help students understand and learn material from lectures.”

Part D: Write the Training Format.
Write the format that you think you will use.
Choose a format and explain why that format fits your topic best.
The format might be a workshop, teacher’s meeting, training program, curriculum project, conference
presentation, etc. For example, you might give a presentation in a conference, or you might give an
interactive workshop to instructors in your institution. Some formats are more interactive (such as
workshops) while others are more lecture-based (such as presentations). Some formats are more
informal, such as conversations in your teacher's lounge. You can choose what is best for you.

Part E: Write the Training Logistics.
List the time, place, supplies, etc. How will participants know about this? How will they sign up to attend?
Location (the training does not need to be a formal space and can be in a classroom or staff lounge at your
institution)
Time Frame (this could be as short as 30 minutes or as long as an all-day workshop)
Number of Participants (this includes how participants will learn about the training and if they need to
sign up)
Materials needed (possible materials include flip charts with markers, copies of handouts, slides)
Room Set-up (possible set-ups include participants sitting around a table or sitting in rows and facing the
front)
Technology Needs (options are presentation computer with projector and screen, internet for presenter
and participants)
Advertisement or outreach (options include hanging up flyers, distributing handouts, or sending emails)
Registration/Cost? (if there will be a cost for participants, list it here, or it can be free)
Part F: Write a Step-by-step description of the Training Plan.
Include a step-by-step description of your training plan.
You can use the materials from this course in your training plan. For example, you can use all or part of
your EMI Final Portfolio.
You can share your step-by-step action/training plan in an outline or “lesson plan" format.
