The muscular system has some of the most challenging concepts to understand, so let's
help each other out by playing another round of "Four Truths and a Lie".
Post 1
After reading the lecture notes, choose one of the specific topics that you find challenging.
1. Describe why you find this particular concept challenging.
2. Create 5 detailed statements about your topic: 4 true statements and 1 false! Each
statement must be a well thought out sentence based on the game "Four truths and a
Lie"!
ANOTHER
1. Choose a specific cardiovascular disease, condition, congenital heart defect OR a disease
or condition that affects the Respiratory System.
2. For your initial post, select one of the following topics that highlight the interaction
between the digestive and urinary systems:
Nutrient Absorption and Waste Elimination | Discuss how the digestive system absorbs
nutrients and how the urinary system helps eliminate waste products from these
nutrients.
Hydration and Fluid Balance | Explain the role of the digestive system in water
absorption and the role of the urinary system in regulating fluid balance in the body.
Detoxification and Waste Management | Explore how the liver and kidneys work
together to detoxify the body and manage waste products.
Using course materials and what you have learned so far this week, write a 250-word response
(or record a 2-3 minute video response, write up for an image, etc.) that:
Summarizes key information about your chosen interaction topic.
Provides specific examples of how the digestive and urinary systems support each other
maintaining homeostasis.
Reflects on any personal experiences or observations related to this interaction (if
applicable).
3. Identify a myth or a piece of misinformation related to viral infections (e.g., Influenza,
HIV, Herpes, SARS-CoV-2, etc.).
Here are a few examples of common myths and misconceptions (you may use one of
these, but do NOT repeat the same myth/misconception that someone else has
previously posted):
"the flu shot can give you the flu"
"you don't have to get the flu shot every year"
"you can't get COVID twice"
After identifying the myth or misconception, describe exactly what is not accurate about
the myth/misconception. Describe why it is a myth, untrue, etc. Explain why using
scientifically valid information that you've researched. Use the terminology about
immunity that you have learned this week (e.g., antibodies, antigens, etc.).
4. Select a disease or disorder that affects the Endocrine or the Reproductive system (i.e.,
hormonal issue, STD, pregnancy condition, etc.). Choose something that no one else has
already written about.
Do an internet search to educate yourself, using reputable sites and answer the
following in your initial post:
Provide an image and write a short summary of the condition (in your own words).
Include the cause and a few major signs and symptoms.
Do NOT discuss prevention or treatment because that will be covered in the reply posts.
5.
