Teaching Date & Time February 10, 2026 @8:00 am Quarter IV
I. CURRICULUM CONTENT, STANDARDS AND LESSON COMPETENCIES
Content Standard The learners demonstrate understanding of the Earth’s rotation and
revolution.
Performance Standard The learners should be able to demonstrate rotation and revolution of
the earth using a globe to explain day and night and the sequence of
seasons.
Learning Competency The learners differentiate between rotation and revolution and
describe the effects of Earth’s motions.
Specific Objectives At the end of the 45-minute discussion, the students should be able
to:
1. define earth rotation;
2. explain how earth’s rotation cause day and night; and
3. perform differentiated activities related to Earth’s rotation.

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Prayer
Please stand for the opening prayer.
Please lead the prayer, Leah?
Angel of God, my guardian dear,
To whom God’s love commits me here,
Ever this day, be at my side,
To light, to guard, to rule, and guide.
Amen.
Before you take your seats, please
check the alignments of the chairs, pick up the
pieces of paper around you and put it in the
trash bin.
(The pupils pick up the pieces of paper.)
You may now take your seats.
2. Greetings
Good morning, class!
Good morning, ma’am.
How are you this morning?
We are fine, ma’am.
That’s good to hear!
3. Songs
Now, I want everyone to stand up again
for our action song! Are you familiar with the
‘Science Time’ song?
No/Yes ma’am.
Today, we will sing it together and clap
our hands at same time.
Ready, set, sing!
(The pupils start singing the Science Time song.)
Science Song
Ready for the song
In one, or two, or three
Then sit properly
Science is ready
Lessons are all new
All you have to do…
Listen to your tea…cher
To learn something new
Hey, Science time, Science time
Oh, it’s Science time
Be ready…
It’s more fun, more activities
Hey, Science time, Science time
Oh, it’s Science time
I like it, I love it, I love my teacher too…
(Repeat 2x)
Great job, everyone! Now that we are all
energized, let’s continue our adventure!
4. Class Rules
Before we finally move on to our lesson,
let us first have an agreement. Is that fine with
you all?
I want you to keep all the things that are
not needed to our discussion.
Raise our hand silently, ma’am.
What will you do if you want to answer,
ask or clarify something?
Very good!
And what will you do if somebody is
talking here in front?
We should listen attentively ma’am.
Bravo!
What about if we have group activities?
We should cooperate and participate ma’am.
Good!
So, do we have an agreement now?
Yes ma’am.
Now, please read our classroom RULES
Classroom RULES
R- Raise your hand before you speak
U- Use kind words always
L- Listen attentively
E- Ensure the cleanliness of the classroom
S- Stay focused and follow the directions
Can I expect these from all of you
class?
Yes, ma’am!
Alright! I expect that everyone to follow
these rules so we can have a safe and fun
lesson today.
B. Establishing Lesson Purpose
1. Motivation
Activity: Globe and Flashlight
Materials: Globe or ball, flashlight
I have a globe here, and this flashlight
will be our Sun. I want one or two volunteers to
help spin the Earth slowly. Watch carefully!
Look at the globe. The side facing the
Sun is bright. Is it day or night?
The side facing the Sun is daytime.
Good! Now, the side away from the Sun
is dark. Is it day or night?
The side away from the Sun is nighttime.
So, what makes day and night happen?
Day and night happen because the Earth is
spinning on its axis.
Very good! Now, think about everything
we just observed. If you were to guess, what do
you think our lesson will be today?
I think our lesson today will be about how Earth’s
rotation causes day and night.
2. Presentation
Our topic for today is all about earth’s
rotation and revolution. At the end of our
discussion, I am expecting that you should be
able to define earth’s rotation, explain how
earth’s rotation cause day and night, and
perform differentiated activities related to
Earth’s rotation.
Can I expect that from you all? Yes ma’am.
C. Developing and Deepening
Understanding
Activity 1: Earth’s Rotation (Day and Night)
From our activity earlier, we learned that
the Earth is moving. Now, let us explore this
movement more closely.
A representative will hold the flashlight
as the Sun. One volunteer will slowly spin the (Student spins the globe while others observe.)
globe.
As the Earth spins, what do you notice The Earth is moving in a counterclockwise
about its motion? Which direction is the Earth direction.
moving- clockwise or counterclockwise?
The part of the Earth facing the Sun becomes
As the Earth continues to spin, what do bright.
you notice happens to the part facing the Sun?
The light is moving as the Earth spins.
Is the light always staying in one place,
or is it moving as the Earth spins? When it is bright, it is daytime.
When it is bright, is it day or night?
No, the whole Earth does not experience daytime
Does the whole earth experience at the same time.
daytime at the same time?
The part not facing the sun becomes dark.
What happens to the part of the Earth
that is not facing the Sun?
While one place is having daytime, the other side
While one place is having daytime, what is having nighttime.
is happening to the other side of the Earth?
The Earth is spinning around an
imaginary line called the axis. The earth axis is an imaginary line running through
the planet from the north pole and the south pole.
What is the Earth axis?
It takes 24 hours for the Earth to spin once around
its axis.
How long do you think it takes for the
Earth to spin once around its axis?
Exactly! One full spin of the Earth on its
axis is called one rotation, and it gives us one
day. The Earth needs to rotate so we can have a day
and night and so living things can rest and stay
Why do you think it is important that the alive.
Earth rotates?
It takes 24 hours for the earth to complete one full
rotation on its axis.
How long does it take for the earth to
complete one full rotation on its axis?
Earth’s rotation is the spinning of the
earth on its axis. This rotation causes day and
night and it takes 24 hours to complete.
D. Generalization
Game: Write and raise!
I will group the class into four groups.
Each group will receive one board and
one chalk. I will read a question related to our
lesson on Earth’s rotation.
You will be given 15 seconds to think
and write your answer.
When the time is up, I will say RAISE,
and all groups will raise their boards at the
same time. Each correct answer will earn one
point.
Rules
I want you to strictly follow our rules. Write your answer only after the
teacher reads the question.
No shouting of answers.
No peeking at other groups’ boards.
Raise the board only when the
teacher says RAISE.
Yes ma’am
Do you understand?
