Core value presentation
Core values I
would like to touch is one Positive Attitude. based on a survey I conducted with almost 3,400
business people from all around the world, not just BNI members. Positive attitude was discovered to
be one of the top two characteristics of a great networker. The first thing people see from you is your
attitude, how you take things in general. A positive attitude makes people want to associate and
cooperate with you. Positive business professionals are like magnets. Others want to be around them
and will send their friends family and associates to them. I often heard this saying that goes like this “ I
ll tell you who you are, but show me your friends first” we become a lot like the people we hang out
the most with. Surround yourself with people who have the right attitude. Let me put it in this way for
example, you need to receive payment from a person, and out of sudden, the person didn’t make the
payment. What would you do - so Frame your thought positively on the outcomes A B and C and act
on it , not emotionally although we are emotional creatures. We cannot change the past, we cannot
change the fact that people will act in a certain way. The only thing we can do is play on the one string
we have, and that is, our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me an 90% how I
react to it, and so it is, with you and me, we are in charge of our attitudes one of the important core
values. For SDG 5, I would like to touch upon Quality education and would like ask a question what is
education - form of art of acquiring, retaining and transferring to someone else. Can be formally or
informally I would like to start with this well known quotes goes by “Give a man a fish and you feed
him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” - The main message here is that
you can do something for someone and it will be of help at the time, but if you don’t teach them how
to do it themselves, they will forever be dependent. That’s one of the most beautiful things about
teaching and education– once you share knowledge or obtain knowledge, there is power and
capability gained forever. In my firm, we often engaging in internal training where we shared our
experience and knowledge in a structured way by educating interns and new staff so minimise error
by that improve efficiency. That’s all from me. Thank you. Enjoy.
Certainly! Here’s a real-life example of how a Company Secretary can apply the BNI core value of
building relationships and recognition:
### Example:
**Company Secretary: Jane Smith**
**BNI Chapter: Business Leaders Network**
### Building Relationships:
1. **Engage Actively:**
- **Regular Attendance:** Jane attends every weekly BNI meeting and participates actively in
discussions, ensuring she’s a familiar and reliable presence within the group.
- **One-to-One Meetings:** She schedules one-to-one meetings with other members, such as a
local business lawyer and an accountant, to understand their services and how they can mutually
benefit each other’s clients.
2. **Provide Value:**
- **Expert Advice:** During meetings, Jane offers free initial consultations to fellow members who
need advice on corporate governance and compliance issues.
- **Workshops:** Jane organizes a workshop on “Effective Corporate Governance Practices,”
inviting all BNI members and their contacts. This event not only provides valuable information but
also showcases Jane’s expertise and helps members see her value firsthand.
3. **Network Widely:**
- **Networking Event:** Jane co-hosts a networking mixer with a local chamber of commerce,
inviting BNI members and other business professionals. This event helps members expand their
connections and creates opportunities for new business relationships.
### Recognition:
1. **Acknowledge Support:**
- **Public Recognition:** At BNI meetings, Jane publicly thanks members who have referred clients
to her. For instance, she recognizes John, a marketing consultant, who referred a startup needing
company secretarial services.
- **Member Spotlight:** Jane writes a post for the BNI newsletter highlighting how a collaboration
with Lisa, a business lawyer, helped a mutual client streamline their legal and compliance processes.
2. **Share Success:**
- **Client Success Stories:** Jane shares a case study in the BNI newsletter about how her services
helped a small business transform their corporate governance, leading to significant growth and
stability.
- **Collaborative Success:** Jane and another BNI member, Tom, an accountant, jointly present a
success story at a meeting, demonstrating how their combined services helped a client achieve better
financial and legal health.
3. **Award Efforts:**
- **Internal Awards:** Jane initiates a “BNI Connector Award” in her chapter, recognizing members
who excel in making valuable introductions. She presents the first award to Sarah, a financial advisor,
who has consistently connected members with potential clients.
- **External Recognition:** Jane nominates her BNI chapter for a local business award, highlighting
their exceptional networking and community support. This not only boosts the chapter’s reputation
but also enhances Jane’s profile as an active and influential member.
By actively engaging, providing value, networking widely, acknowledging support, sharing success
stories, and recognizing efforts, Jane exemplifies the core value of building relationships and
recognition within BNI, contributing to her professional growth and that of her fellow members.
