Course Objectives:
1. To understand basics of SPSS and their different functions.
2. To know about data mining, including data importation and organization of data through SPSS.
3. To understand the statistical analysis using SPSS.
4. To strengthen students' ability to analyze and interpret data using a range of statistical techniques
Course Content: The course content be divided into minimum 3 Units to maximum 5 units along with defined Hours of
teaching for each unit.

I How to use SPSS interface, terms, and data formats? Import and export data from 5
different sources. Navigate data editor and variable view. Data types and measurement
levels. Data Entry and Manipulation, Recode and transform variables. Merge and append
datasets.
Descriptive Statistics: central tendency, variability, etc. Frequency distributions and
histograms. Cross-tabulate variables and make contingency tables. Function for
descriptive analysis.
II Data Visualization: Create and customize charts and graphs. Add data labels and 5
annotations. Export charts and graphs from SPSS. Transform variables (standardize,
normalize, etc.). Create new variables in SPSS. Compute and recode variables. Run
frequency analysis and descriptive statistics on specific variables.
III Parametric Tests: Independent and paired t-tests, one-way ANOVA, etc. Nonparametric 5
Tests: chi-square test, Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Kruskal-Wallis
test, etc.
Correlation and Regression: Pearson’s and Spearman’s correlation coefficients, simple
and multiple linear regression analysis. Check assumptions and interpret results of
regression analysis. Generate scatter plots and regression output.
